News Elite: Dangerous Steam Keys

You're not the only one with a lot of Steam keys etc...and you know what they say about assumptions. The first post would also be in line with what he wrote. Most likely the language used has caused some people confusion.

Either you assume a busy Ed slightly misread a question he was replying to... or you assume that Valve changed their entire way of making business, create entirely new contract terms just to get on FD's case and is now going to have access to all of FD's financial transactions so that they can know that FD is giving them their share of all of their future sales.

I simply choose the first alternative! :)

The page finally loads for me but it just says "your account is linked to steam" and there's nothing else whatsoever. Just that line of text. How do I get the key?

Well, I managed to access to my account but now only things I have when clicking on "Partner keys" is : Your account is linked to Steam. And I got no key or button to redeem one... : /

I didn't get a key....it had "link account to steam" that was it, so I did so... no key, no added game to steam!! I thought there was a code generator?

***Looks like I'm not the only one***

EDIT

Dude below is right, use Firefox...chrome doesn't show that for some reason...

for me the key was only visible in firefox

whereas in chrome the site was broken and only said "Your account is linked to Steam." but nothing else..

Same issue here, apparently my ED/Frontier account is linked to Steam now, however I seem unable to get the key to actually add ED to steam because it just keeps telling me it is linked already and there is no butting to retrieve the key to complete the linking process...... I know this is one of the many issues atm, but this just takes the biscuit.

To everyone panicking about not getting keys; be patient. The store is taking a heck of kicking from everyone logging in to grab their keys. I linked my account two hours ago (got nothing but a blank screen after clicking on the link on the Steam site) and have now logged back in the option to claim a key was there.

I imagine all the extra traffic is affecting communications both ways; we can't get to the site to link in the first place and the site can't send the requests to Valve.

I'm sorry, but simply neither of those suggestions fit with the available information. As a partial counterpoint to what you said, there was the EA links provided earlier in the thread indicating that while it is not necessarily an established pattern of behaviour, it is not outwith the realms of possibility. In other words, you don't seem to acknowledge that this may already been an established practice, albeit little used. This would then go back to the earlier point and make sense.

Edit: Just to clarify, I hope you do know I respect your right to your opinion.

I see "Your account is linked to Steam." and anything more... anyway - I don't have Elite: Dangerous in my Steam library ... ;(

OK - I seem to be one of the lucky few that have managed to both link my Steam account to Frontier and obtain the Steam key - and it's now downloading on Steam - Magic!. Question... Should I uninstall my standalone version before I get Steam to install it and, if I do uninstall the standalone version, will I lose my SAVE?

I'm unsure as Steam places games under a Steam directory whereas Frontier have placed (by default, I assume) in a very weird place - C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\FORC-FDEV-D-1010

Your save is in the "cloud" so to speak, so no.

I've gone back and read the whole thread. I think your posts are certainly the more persuasive and make better sense. Throughout all posts/users in the thread, there definitely would appear to be a language issue causing some confusion and misunderstanding.

Mine says "account linked to steam" then "there has been an error, contact support".

Think I'll just try it at the weekend. Been trying for the last 3 hours (in between bouts of The Curious Expedition) and I canne take it no more cap'n

Ah, the rest of the page is loading now, sometimes. I see it's still under a lot of strain, it was just giving up on loading after that string of text for some of us. Now I can at least see a button. It'll probably be a while yet before the button does anything though.
