Well, thank you for... whatever it means... Anyway, still no evidence of faction influence system working at all.


When u had missions that had say economic boom up, economic bust down influence up, civil unrest down ( and sometimes theres a 5th affect) then economic boom was the only one being applied. The 3-4 that came after that werent being applied.

The server influences only update once a day, wait for the next downtime and if things dont move despite a lot of activity then we have something else at play.

But we might see more shifts as all factors upon mission completion are affected.

Just took out a Deadly Wanted Anaconda at a nav beacon with a power plant kill and got no bounty. I was firing right up until he exploded.

Ram raid dont give bounties or even a record of the kill. If u mean subsystems, its been proven that is a bug where if u take out subsystem that lead to an explosion bounties are given, best to whittle em away with no subsystem focus

I've never had that happen. Do you maybe have some program running (like an updater or anti-virus) that is stealing focus from the game? I know other games where people have complained about this "behavior". Not sure, just asking...
 
When I returned from my exploration trip and had data for hundreds of systems, I just gave up and wrote a mouse script to click the buttons repeatedly overnight.

Yeah it's technically an exploit, but there really should be a sell all button, even if it just does what my script does under the hood.

that button was originally there, back in beta.
then a bug appeared, which set peoples balance to zero when selling exploration data.
now if you had one of these corrupted sets of data in your list, the "sell all"-button stopped working for some reason (it was actually more intelligent than the single sell mechanic? :p).

at that time someone decided this button was of no use or for what ever reason and in the next update it was gone and never be seen again...

other than that... i dunno, that wall of text known as "patch log" sounds important, but actually tells nothing if you know nothing in-depth about the game mechanics (which i doubt anyone except the devs actually do).
all things that are broken from my point of view still seem to be broken, so i can`t really say anything like "well done" or "keep up the good work"... sadly...

Does this mean the background sim was 90% not working and should be now?

It means that when a mission has multiple consequences to the background sim then they are all applied rather than just the first one.

We the people that are playing Elite Dangerous ask and wonder since the whole christmas vacance if the Influence is broken because it's not moving.
You write "Fix only the first consequence being applied ..."
Someone ask's again "Does this fix the background sim (meaning influence)"
And you specify by saying the very same thing "Fix only the first consequence being applied ..." just with other words..

Telemetry added to try and figure out why some machines are failing to load resource files
Not sure if related, probably, that's because Windows User is non-ASCII, e.g. profile is located "C:\Users\<russian name>\" (not 100%-sure, found the warning on the internet). In any case, please, ensure that the game works for such users (spaces/cyrillic/etc in the name).

I translated the patch noted into thickonese as requested by a fellow forumite, I hope these are ok for all!

Hi everyone,

New number for the space shooty game is 1.04, flyer persons have to go play candy crush while the nice game people make the game shiny again just after they have had their packed lunch. Here's the stuff wot was fixerated :

- Stations have been informed to ask the nice security man if they lose sight of mummy
- If the big man is sitting in the seat the seat is definitely occupied, we now know this
- Some stuff was not the same when it should have been the same, it is now the same when it should be the same
- Police are nice when you go boom boom pew pew on a baddie
- When shooting baddies all the baddies now remember the baddie shooting you did do to them in space and also the people in the big station place for bringing them the letters from their grans and stuff
- If you have exploderated a baddie the game remembers it was you who did the exploderating better than it did before
- The have put some super strings onto the bits in the galaxy to keep it together better
- Rats are now not allowed into the planetarium because Miss Jenkins says so, and Miss Jenkins is in charge in the planetarium
- Some planets are now the proper planets that they should be now that Mr Johnson from the physix class has told them what they should be
- Tell us who eats cabbage and who doesn't at lunch, if it's red cabbage though we don't care about that
- When the computer has an argument with the filing lady we now try and see why it argued in a better way
- The Pareco place wanted more than everyone else, so we've now told it that it can't have any more pudding as it didn't eat it's greens
- Someone lost their crisps, we got them back for them!
- Some stuff about eating too many crisps and looking at the shiny things
- We only got 2/10 in last weeks spelling test, this week we got 7/10!

Mr Andy will tell us a story later if we are good!

Edit: You can play again in the time it takes to cook some oven chips and chicken nuggets.

Well its been sussed as being once a day, the pending status seems to chane every few hours. But i still think that the influence and background simulator is still incomplete and broken so we might see some more improvement but it may need a lot more work yet.

Theres a big increae in lag though both with USS and coming in and out of supercruise that needs to be addressed
 
- When deciding if we should go hostile to a faction we just shot, consider whether the target has a local bounty rather than a bounty with their own faction. Prevent people being attacked by the police after attack nearby wanted targets

Dont know wether its just me or they have now broken this.

Now when i attack a pirate faction ship in a extraction zone none of the other pirate ships turn red anymore so now i have to target every single ship and check what faction they are before attacking.
Taget next hostile ship no longer works because they dont go red.
 
Ive never seen so many othe human players in one instance as tonight. Ive seen more people tonight than I have from May 2014 - Jan 2015 (about 20-30 in total). Up to as many as 6 people in one system
 
Has someone been messing with super-cruise accel and decel rates in this release - seems perkier. Or I'm going mad.
 
Yep, a massive increase in CMDR's seen. I'm sat in dock in Uszaa. Every 2nd vessel is a CMDR. Well done FD keep it up. Let us know if you need more pizza.
 
Just wondering if you could post the size of the update in this as my download rate is horrendous (right now its <100kB/s) and it would just be handy so I could plan when I would download it. Not complaining would just make some people lives a little easier. Keep up the good work!
