I support their decision to keep this. If you're in a dogfight as a private citizen, you need to watch your fire. The law still applies to you, even if you're helping take down criminals. "Sorry officer, I only shot you a little," isn't a viable excuse.

THAT SAID, I'd love for an option to pay off fines and small bounties without actually going to a station. If your bounty is under, say... 1,000 credits, I'd like to be able to go into my transactions tab and pay it off immediately and have the police stop attacking me.

No I think it adds a degree of uncertainty. Try it with turreted weapons, thry have a habit of shooting everything in sight whether you want to or not.
And gimbled (gambled?! :) ) weapons are only slightly better. Low grade ones take time to accurately target and just shoot in whatever direction they point.
Even higher grade ones are susceptible to chaff deployment. You need to be carful when pulling fire button :)
 
It means when you attack someone with a bounty that just so happens to be the same faction the local cops belong to, they won't get all y and attack you.
Nor should any other ships of that faction in the area go hostile for you attacking something of their faction, if I'm reading it correctly that is.

That's how I read it as well. "We" the player getting hostiles on the radar with wanted status but belonging to the authority faction. More love to bounty hunters and less messing about checking the wanted target's affiliation.
 
There was a big gang of naughty commanders waiting at my usual bounty spot in big shiny planes saying bad stuff about my Cobra. I don't normally come across stuff like that, it was fun. I called them names back and ran. (all in good fun, this game really does take me back to 1984 so I acted like I was 12.) If it's down to the patch then well done and looking forward to seeing more commanders.
 
Has someone been messing with super-cruise accel and decel rates in this release - seems perkier. Or I'm going mad.

I think your going mad ;) .... seems about the same to me.
I was thinking that the charge-up for hyperspace was taking longer (when you have 10 Fed ships chasing you all guns blasing it's a small but important point!) :eek:
 
I translated the patch noted into thickonese as requested by a fellow forumite, I hope these are ok for all!

Hi everyone,

New number for the space shooty game is 1.04, flyer persons have to go play candy crush while the nice game people make the game shiny again just after they have had their packed lunch. Here's the stuff wot was fixerated :

- Stations have been informed to ask the nice security man if they lose sight of mummy
- If the big man is sitting in the seat the seat is definitely occupied, we now know this
- Some stuff was not the same when it should have been the same, it is now the same when it should be the same
- Police are nice when you go boom boom pew pew on a baddie
- When shooting baddies all the baddies now remember the baddie shooting you did do to them in space and also the people in the big station place for bringing them the letters from their grans and stuff
- If you have exploderated a baddie the game remembers it was you who did the exploderating better than it did before
- The have put some super strings onto the bits in the galaxy to keep it together better
- Rats are now not allowed into the planetarium because Miss Jenkins says so, and Miss Jenkins is in charge in the planetarium
- Some planets are now the proper planets that they should be now that Mr Johnson from the physix class has told them what they should be
- Tell us who eats cabbage and who doesn't at lunch, if it's red cabbage though we don't care about that
- When the computer has an argument with the filing lady we now try and see why it argued in a better way
- The Pareco place wanted more than everyone else, so we've now told it that it can't have any more pudding as it didn't eat it's greens
- Someone lost their crisps, we got them back for them!
- Some stuff about eating too many crisps and looking at the shiny things
- We only got 2/10 in last weeks spelling test, this week we got 7/10!

Mr Andy will tell us a story later if we are good!

Edit: You can play again in the time it takes to cook some oven chips and chicken nuggets.

Ever since this update I've found it impossible to meet with people on private group mode, before this never had a problem, every single time he was there. Since updating we can't find each other for love nor money =[ Other that that the patch notes sound good though.
 
Private groups broken

Up until today I've had no problems with playing in a private group, my friend and I were always in the same instance of the universe but after the patch it seems to insist on putting the two of us on different servers. We've both tried exiting and rejoining but the main menu still tells us that we're on different servers.
We're travelling together doing long rare run convoys which is a bit difficult if you're not even in the same universe.
 
Keep up the great work. Work hard and you will be rewarded. You reap what you sow. Thanks for making a great game.
 
Ahhh great, no more "Boys in blue" attacking after pretty much doing the job for them haha ;)

Would love to see some experimental gear showing up, e.g. a frame shift drive that opens up huge distance jumps of 100ly. Or make the legendary Mirage ship a reality! :)
 
Thanks for the update Michael, however as you did see, some people not used to "theorical terms" found the explanation a bit weird ;) So next time, ask a gamer to "translate it for common people" for you first ;)
 
Oh yay, just tried to upgrade and the data.ovx error is back. Tried replacing it with the one shared with the last patch to fix it (like it did last time) but it still doesnt work. No playing the game for me again :(
