Elite Dangerous | Update 13 Notes

Will the auto-drop happen at any speed / throttle setting, and if so, without damage?

Yes, and it's been that way since 1.2 in February 2015.

You can be coming from deep space at 500c+ and as soon as you're within drop out distance--measured, like sensor range, in time at current speed, not sure how many seconds it is exactly (I think it's on the order of 10-20 seconds), but I've had it work at several thousand ls when coming from a distant area of the same system--you safely drop into the instance.

On a side note, this feature, which can dramatically reduce in-system travel time, is one of the main reasons wings are used and why high block matchmaking weights so easy to abuse.

In the mission board, did we always have the option 'Thargoids' as a mission type option? If not, then this is one of the new features I guess

I think the issue is that this is content thats going to be activated rather than it being released all in one go- so (I hope) as time goes on Dav will click the 'activate Goid motherships' radio button and such.
A bit strange that FD invited everyone ("come all witness the event"), but it is only playable by AX equipped ships.
I Just had to zone out as soon as my ship came online, no chance to investigate, explore or fight for me since I have no AX stuff.

On the plus side, out-running 5 Thargoids interceptors was kind of fun.

Its why (and I really hope this is the case) they said 'come here' was to show off the Thargoids new abilities (i.e. wrecking Guardian tech) as a prelude to set the tone- everyone now is down to bog-standard AX weapons and more agressive Goids.

And there was several weeks of CGs conveniently handing them out as rewards too... like they were preparing us.

I mean i didn't get any but i'm assuming the Salvation AX weapons are functionally standard AX weapons and not tagged in the code as guardian tech

Not really. Only you must have on board is "field neutralizer" you use it on CD basically.
Everything else you need like for "pirate threat level 7". That allows comfy scan of things and fly around just ignoring goids.

Yeah.... funny story about that. I sold mine as soon as I watched it completely not work time and again while in an AX CZ.
It was working. Just don't listen yourtubers :D I use it many years and consider "a must". What is good, now finally sound was fixed it seems. It was annoying bug when ship's voice was not telling you to use device so you would mess up. Now ship tells you exactly when to press button, no failures during 2 hours. So I think they fixed it finally.

On top of the neutralizer failing to do anything, the SLF failing to do anything, my AX weapons being sub-par that I had to buy just to get some kills, my overall experience in this so far has been "meh".
Agree, it was "meh" for sure. SLF bugged, neutralizer messing (it had 2 reasons to mess: 1. no ship voice telling you to do, 2. not enough energy on SYS, now I use 4 pips and it works like a charm).
Hope they will fix combat, right now scouting HIP system is fun and easy. All is working ok.

Where are the optimizations in update 13? It said on the roadmap there were going to be optimizations, but there are no mentions of performance improvements from what I could find in the notes. Did something happen?
