Elite Dangerous | Update 13 Notes

Greetings Commanders.

And so, Salvation is nigh…Update 13 and the conclusion of the Azimuth Saga are only a short number of hours away and we’re on the edge of our cockpit seats.
Before we get down to the business of update notes ahead of downtime and deployment, let’s recap today’s release deployment schedule.

We are still very much on track and working to the following, remaining itinerary:

Time Approximations (BST)
09:00
  • Server downtime begins for all Elite Dangerous Odyssey and Horizons players, on all platforms.
[NEW] 13:30
  • Elite Dangerous servers will be back online across all platforms.
  • Update 13 will be available.

The update notes will be delivered here in two sections within the same post.
  • The first section will be specific to Odyssey only, with the second specific to Horizons only.
Great! So without further ado, please head on over to the fancy new format of notes for your perusal. You'll find them published here: https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/elite-dangerous-update-13-notes

As usual we'll be about if you need us

Here we go! o7
Much Thanks for the Update !!!...The game is more and more fun

None of this aggressive Thargoid, Guardian-tech-melting content is visible to us lowly Console Peasants, it seems. My Guardian guns and modules work fine in the system, and a the debris fields and shipwrecks are totally empty, not a Goid to be seen.

The new shipwrecks (Bright Sentinel et al) don't even have comms logs, escape hatches, cargo bays, hackable data points or anything else that wrecked ships normally have. Overlook does, but none of the ones since the update do.

The entire system is totally devoid of any significant content, at least as far as I can see on my Xbox Series X.

So, the cutscene was impressive, but that seems to be all we get. Super happy for the Glorious PC Master Race getting all their fun new content though...

This is a blessing for most, if not all, veteran players who have been flying around in the Elite Dangerous galaxy since 3300.
This is weird. I had no access to E-D couple months. Tried Alite on android and Oolite on PC. For me it was even less dangerous then E-D is/was. And not so cool as for 3D.

Someday someone needs to teach me how to do that. I've locked on a wingmate's nav beacon dozens of times, but I don't understand how one does a quick drop (if anything, I overshoot when I try and that just makes it take even longer).
It doesn't work too well near planets. Sometimes it drops you back into normal space megametres away from your navlocked wingmate. It's nice to hear it's a known issue and it's being worked on

Came back to HIP 22460, tons of exploration available, great level of threat.
I run a paper plane, scoop mats & avoid combat

Don't worry, not only on consoles. In HZN too.

So no Thargoids on Horizons / PC or Console…. Is this by design or will console players see Thargoids in system. The only threat consolers have are gankers looking for curious explorers and Goid hunters with no Bugs to hunt. What gives? Are consoles done with this update and we only get the scenery or will there be any content relative to the story. Considering transfers haven’t happened yet and we don’t really know when. Some explanation would be much appreciated. There are some dedicated Horizons players who were just as excited about the development of this story.

They gave some details over at https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/update-13-narrative-and-access-to-4-0.606333/

I only wanted one issue resolved. And it was not mentioned in the notes as far as I could find.
But it has been fixed ! That is the jump distance shown in the galmap for remote FC jumps.

Previously it would show the distance from your ship position, now it shows the actual FC jump distance.

:):):):):):):)

EDIT : Sorry, I was wrong !! It must have been a coincidence the numbers matched the frst time I tried it.
But on the second attempt it's obvious nothing has changed.
So we still have the very annoying problem of not knowing how far the actual jump will be.

:confused::cry:
For those who may not have seen my earlier correction ....

Great notes as usual, but any chance we can have a light mode on the website? I find it very difficult to read bright white text on a very dark background (I have this forum in Planet Coaster mode as i find it much more pleasing on the eye)
I was wishing for exactly the same thing earlier today. White on black is such an eye strain.

There is no answer or clear explanation for consoles. They could at least put nonhuman signal sources or spawn Thargoids in the system… just making the system a ghost town after all the hype is just another kick in the nuts.
Why would you expect anything else?

To be fair, I think that other post makes it fairly clear that horizons 4.0 update is for PC players only, since it specifically says "PC players" rather than "Horizons players" which could be taken to include consoles.

I'm fairly sure that today's update is the last we'll see for consoles, except maybe the odd minor tweak and patch for the things this update broke (there's always something).

Would have been nice to get the new SRV on consoles, but it's not likely.

I don't have a good enough PC to run the game, and not much chance of acquiring one anytime soon; but if the opportunity arises in September, I will clone my Cmdr data onto PC so it's ready in the event I do.

I logged in just a little earlier, out in empty space near Bright Sentinel, 20 seconids passed and a Thargoid Interceptor spawned to attack me. Can't fault the Thargoids for attacking after Salvation's weapon discharge, though.

I fled to a nearby system, recharged my shields and fixed my hull via decontamination limpets. Jumped back in, visited planet 7C where things are supposed to be (Fort Asch?), but upon leaving supercruise after descending down to near the surface, another Interceptor spawned. I boosted away from that one until it got bored and went to witchspace, I then landed and waited for a bit. Two more Thargoids spawned above my landed ship and opened fire after a brief scan, these ones I couldn't escape, but at least I got the express ride back to Jameson Memorial, which is something. :)

I have a PC account (but only for ground game and not on an optimal PC) All my hours of eye bleeding grind have been on console so until the accounts copy over (if they do) the game content that matters (space flight) will be played console for most of us on console who still play. It’s just a bum situation. I don’t see why key aspects of the game can’t run in parallel on PC and console…
