Elite Dangerous | Update 13 Notes

Q: If there's no grind in ED/EDO, why don't players have the option to just buy what they require in materials and other resources?
You still have to EARN this money.

So I guess, that to remove grind we need button "get all possible things" in menu.

To Sallymorganmoore attention, just to make early report...
These annoying bugs returned again after patch:
- Galaxy and System map display options, User data mode and other icons - get default after every game start, so one should select those ticks again and again which is utterly annoying.
Some of major ticks which get default are: Show system connectors, Show controls, Show Galactic sectors, Show galactic sector names (seems not working at all, being selected or not) and others - in Display options...
Other major ticks in User data mode used by me which get default are: Visited stars, and others...
Pls make all those options ticks be saved one and for all just not to select them every time when enter the game.
Thx in advance.

Hi @sallymorganmoore

I am really enjoying the event and this update release wasn't too buggy (at least for me), which is great !

However I see that the anti-aliasing issue (https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/32228) is still present. It has been the top-voted issue for quite some time now. Is it being worked on ?

It saddens me to see that it has not been corrected in update 13, especially with the release of the event video. Unfortunatly the anti-aliasing issue is very visible in the event video

Is it possible to get some information about this ? Since it is the top-voted issue I guess I am not the only one interested more info about this.

Anyway, please thank the dev team for the work around the event, it is great !

Other new feature added is also has some issues, I mean text ones...
As an example - the text of the Collection Mission which is displayed on the right upper corner seems to have some errors, displaying wrong string info instead of clear information and some punctuation error... Pls see attach.

There one can read the following:
Fetch the item from Locker 1 in the Habitat Building#xAKey code: 7005;

Should be fixed to look as follows, I suppose:
Fetch the item from Locker 1 in the Habitat Building, Key code: 7005.

All the same text info of all those land missions should be checked to fix properly, pls.

Поменял системный SSD на 1 Тбайт. Посмотрел новый сюжет. Kool.

The only assumption is yours. I was merely stating my perspective on how I might see a grind in Elite, not projecting it on anyone else. As I said, everyone sees it their own way, to read what I said otherwise would only create a contradiction where none exists.

Edit; It's interesting as it makes me recall how the original Elite got rejected by all the publishers because it didn't have 3 lives or score. I guess the modern version of that is to look at Elite as a game to be completed, like a quest. Elite has never been that.
You're saying that "Elite is a game to be completed, like a quest", not anyone else. Projection, again.
If someone has a distaste for repetitious gameplay loops aka grind, that doesn't make them either a "speedrunner" or "game completion required" type player.
They just don't like repetitious gameplay loops aka grind and instead prefer depth, variety, and surprise in their game interactions. Some players like the warm blanket of seeing the same loop patterns time after time, with a few variables switched out. Nobody is saying to remove that, have at it. The point is, it's not enough for long term engagement once you've become habituated and bored with a repetitious gameplay loop(s) that does not offer real depth, variety, or surprise anymore.
It doesn't matter whether the game is open-ended or closed, or the pace they like to play (which can and does vary over time too).
We'll see soon with the latest narrative arc if it devolves to using the same automated systems to do more of the same, or adds more depth, variety, and surprise via curated story content. I expect the former, but I hope there are also dollops of the latter.

Before you post, it's generally regarded as good practice to actually read before replying:

If you don't want to do that, but gri...er, play game loops to gather them, good for you, but it's no skin off your nose if somebody else just wants to go to a broker and buy what they need? But we can't. Why not?

You still need to acquire credits by gr...er, playing game loops anyway in order to buy things, so please don't say being able to outright buy things would break the gr...er,game loops!
There was no suggestion to remove "grind", it is what it is & is part of ED/EDO core DNA. Some people seem to revel in it, good for them!
The suggestion was to also make use of credit sinks as an alternative pathway for resource gathering if you can afford it, just like it's done in the real world.
This isn't a new idea by any stretch of the imagination, either, but it seems anathema to even consider the possibility of being able to do it.
Why would you even care, if it doesn't affect you? The argument that it would destroy the game because people would quickly create engineered P2P ship killers doesn't hold water, because that already happens fast enough under the current system anyway. There's also gates that can be used to fence that option off as well, same as is done currently with ranks, experience, requirements etc.

Still experiencing the same light and shadow flickering in multiple places within Odyssey buildings at settlements, while release notes say they're fixed as stated in previous release notes and still broken in previous releases.

No words can express dismay. Here's praying it'll eventually be resolved in Update 28 or 29.

Same, no matter the shadow quality setting, this still seems to be a problem.

Also, I have something new about quality of U13.

For few earlier patches I had literally 0 CTDs on planets.

But after U13...I think, that more than 50% of approaching to planet has crash as effect. Even not to POIs, or settlements. Just for any planet.

1st of all you do in modern games in such cases - make full game self-check, run from steam "files check".
next, in folder where main elite's exe is there is a file GpuWorkTable.xml - delete it, that will force game to evaluate GPU again on launch, because crashes could be related to gpu drivers updates etc.

Could be heat related too, approaching a planet is where ED starts to put a significant load on components like the GPU and a heatsink clogged up with fluff could expose a problem with heat dissipation.

I've approached & spent time on plenty of planets since yesterday's patch & not had any CTDs. I have had the endless black screen during transitions from foot to ship & vice versa, that bug returned about a week ago & the patch didn't fix it or make it worse though.

I noticed that the official cutscene, filmed on Frontier's own computers, has EBL and flickering shadows in places.

Well, I was hoping for something after the regular Thursday downtime - but no. Still no Goids in HIP 22460, all Guardian tech still working fine, still nothing to do at any of the debris fields or shipwrecks. Still can't engage with any of the "new content" or "gameplay" that Odyssey players are talking about.

Pretty hacked off by it, to be fair, although sadly not very surprised...
