So I just ended up watching Rogue one, fantastic flick I must add, on of the best right up there with the 3 first movies.

At the end I keep on wandering, what if at the end battle, a Farragut suddenly spawned from nowhere and sided with the rebellion ?

Would a Farragut battlecruiser completely obliterate an imperial destroyer ? Or the other way around ?

I can almost imagine the scene, where in the middle of the battle the following message was suddenly displayed on the comms. " Warning, capital class signature detected." Everybody would be like... ? :O

And BOOOM, here enters the Farragut in all its majestic glory, horns and everything, and begins giving the imperials a shower of fiery hell. :p

oh, and I added a poll, just because.

Feds can't even handle ED Empire.

How is hull tanking gonna stand up to a death star? *chuckles*

Death Star proved to be a glass cannon, tree times they build it, tree times it blowed up, and by a small group of rebels no less. :D

I'd have made it out of something other than trees!

I voted Federation.

Imagine all them death star station campers in corvettes. The SW imperials would stand no chance.

Plus, in the SW the ships seem quite balanced. Just wait until one of them silly star destroyers meets an engineered FDL.

no chance.

Less glass cannon, more "thick engineers and their exhaust ports" ;)

Still, can also solo a Farragut with the right know-how (even before 2.1).

Given the Empire's track record, it's not even a competition. Hudson would wipe the floor with those amateurs.

Star wars Empire, of course.

The ED Federation isn't able to land on or even attack installations on planets with atmosphere. How could they win a war without taking the enemy's bases?

Star Wars Empire would win hands-down for the simple fact that Elite is sci-fi and tries to stick somewhat to reality, while Star Wars is fantasy, and doesn't give a crap about reality.

Rogue One was an excellent film though. :)

My partner and I enjoyed it, too. And I really liked, how they explained this silly flaw in the design of the death star.

Federation of course. Sure, Star Wars has superior technology, but have you ever seen a stormtrooper hit anything with a weapon?

Which made my girlfriend wonder, if they'll expain this in the next Star Wars movie as well: The clones for the clone army were deliberately designed with a flaw in their DNA, causing squinty eyes or terrible eye-to-hand coordination. :D

Yes, yes, yes, but the Federation will be able to rely on the help of many Pilot's Federation commanders - which are immortal, as we all know ...
