I was always advised that using Supports for extensive periods can weaken the joints.. so when recovering use them, but try to strengthen that joint when its ok to do so..

Actually your probably right about the supports, the thing is after my knee left me out of running for so long its hard to not let go off it in fear of happening again, although i dont tighten it as much as i use to mind.

and hey saw your other post about your own running and thats great, its almost like a new lease of life in regards to your health, i bet mentally you feel good to(actually that shows in your posts so obviously it does! ;)

Yeah its a positive in a sea of difficult, been under the weather mood wise... seems the stupidest things set me off...

Knowing I can't get to Fantasticon should be a little dissapointment, not a two day head £%^£!! anyway I just need to keep plodding on through and get the positives again..

We as humans are amazing at what we can do and tolerate... sometimes though that nasty depression has a good go at you..

they all have a part to play, I used them at first and they helped me adjust to uneven pavements, Now I use them when Im sore.

Tonight is a RUN night!! :SD

You're doing great with the running. If you get to under 30 minutes in the future that would be a significant milestone. Under 30 minutes for a 5k would mean that you are pretty fit IMO.

In fact I think it would be worth a curry! :)

Think I'm going to take peoples advice on a sports massage, my hip and the side of my **** hurts.

Lol. The elite fitness club have all got dodgy legs or are using knee supports :D

For 7 years (that I have stopped of smoking), I swim 11 kilometers by week and I make of the intense walking in mountain (40 kilometers by week, approximately). As I like the bread and the candies and the chocolate, I am obliged to have this rhythm. For to have 10 kilos less than my size

Tell you what guys...

Im heading for a good weeks weigh in... currently today weighing 95.8 kg...

I've not seen 95kg since my 20's...

I thank you all for the support so far... and here's to a new wardrobe in May...

(Still need this flabby tummy to get to £$%"$^£^£$^ry)

Great news. I will look forward to Tuesday!

I'm in for a **** weigh in tomorrow: work commitments, family meal and 1 evening of drinking has done me in this week!

I upped my distance again last night to 16km, aerobically not a problem, I think I might have slowed my pace a bit too much, down to 5:49 min/km from 5:05 min/km that I do for 10k but felt like I had more in the tank so that is hopeful for the half-marathon.

On the down side my left calf and right knee/hip were quite sore during the run and down-right painful in the evening.

Things have recovered ok 24 hours later though so I think just more and more stretching over the week. I may cancel the last training run and rest next week.

As long as my knee holds out, confident I can do the half-marathon. Mostly.

Well done everyone for losing weight, this group is certainly doing the business in helping people achieve their goals.

Another thread has a visual sign of how I'm doing.. but Im going to leave it for a month or too before I try any serious comparisons :D

I had a run last night and my knee and calf were really bothering me, so I reduced to a walk.. Today Im hoping to get that run in the bank!!

Aerobically Im SOO close to where I need to be to run without breaks...

Legs are close too... gah...

The website is a little out of date, was hoping for a pledge page to make the donation through?

Good luck with It and I am proud to be able to support you.

Im not sure yet.... I still see flab here and there... and I know I got a long way to go..

It is nice to have clothes sag on me now... rather than the opposite..

The key was the jump from obese to overweight.. that has huge health implications too..

ONWARDS and downwards to SLIMDEPENDENCE!!!

Great going Mr P, you have come along way in what seems a short time, and yeah love it when you feel the clothes are no longer tight fitting as they use to be :)

oh meant to say, i had a bit of walking hol as you may already know the other week, and probably two weeks of the gym altogether, have to say although i missed my running/bike, the rest/break did me some good.

Body had chance to finally get over ankle injury(not a bad one mind) and i felt quite refreshed coming back to the gym.

Guess what am saying is its probably good to have small breaks and dont feel bad about them if you feel like you need one, its certainly invigorated my gym sessions again.

Yeah, one's body and mind need rest sometimes.

I've noticed that if you do excercise hard (to me that's 3-4 times per week or more), a week off after 3-5 weeks on intense training is a must. You can pretty much pick up at where you left. Longer that one week off-period / very light training period tends to make it harder to get yourself to the gym / track / whatever, and you lose progress - loss rate is of course different for everyone, as is gain rate, but mine seems to be about one week's progress lost ove 2 weeks inactivity (assuming otherwise 'normal' life / activities).

Great that you're doing so well, It's a tough slog but worth it for the health benifits alone.

One small thing though, Susan will be asking for a whole new wardrobe if you not careful.....
