I've just come across this thread, but have now been on my own weight loss journey since August of last year when I joined Weight Watchers. I had been trying to lose weight all year but without a great deal of success and, following a health check, decided I needed to do something more positive, especially as I had been told I was at risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes! So far I have lost over 3 stones overall but still have a long way to go.
Tomorrow is my last day at work as I officially retire on 31 March but have leave to take before then. However, I am not going to laze about during my retirement and intend to keep active for as long as I can! Being office-bound for the last 27 years, I have spent most of that time sitting on my behind, so will definitely be much more active.
A friend of mine contacted me a few days ago asking if I was interested in joining her for a 10-mile "Pink Ribbonwalk" at Leeds Castle in Kent on 7 June - a sponsored event in aid of Breast Cancer Care. Of course I said I would and am now about to start the 12 weeks of training to prepare myself for this venture! It is many years since I did any kind of serious walking and I am determined to succeed - and lose more weight at the same time!
I have set up a JustGiving page for any donations and would be very grateful for any help in reaching my target of £100 -
