General / Off-Topic Elite HAM Radio Enthusiasts

I was wondering who of you guys (and gals) is also a licensed amateur radio operator? If so, do post your callsign please!

I'm OE3JJS, QTH is eastern part of Austria near Vienna. Running a IC-7600 with a simple multiband wire dipole at the moment.

Hmmm, did not expect to see a post about this in here. :)

I am ZR6TCT when I visit my home of South Africa. Here in the UK I am M0NGC.

I have a Kenwood TM V7A in the Land Rover and a Yaesu FT857 for anything else. Havent been on the air much in recent years. I'm living in a flat with terrible QRM. So recently I've been planning a go-kit specifically for SOTA with the aim to explore more outdoors, keep fit and keep practising being on the air. But still to try my hand at it.

Yes. I have built myself a basic loop, which brought the noise level down from S7 to about S5, depending on the band. But my whole area is covered in this interference with a high density of these tiny British flats on top of each other, so I have largely given up operating from home.
That device you pointed out is certainly interesting. I hadnt heard of it before. I'll need to read up a bit more about it.

On the other hand, about a month back I did a field test of my SOTA inverted V antenna and I couldn't believe the low noise levels out in the country. And with only 5 watts I could contact a Russian event station that was operating out of Moscow that afternoon.

How is the IC7600 for you? I'd love to have a proper shack rig, but with my moving around every couple of years it seems I'm better off with a couple of portable radios for now.
How often are you on the air and what modes to you normally operate?
Although I've had my license for many years, I've not been operating HF for very long so I won't claim to be a highly experienced DXer yet. :)
