Empty USS....stop it with this nonsense already

Some times when you jump into a USS you may end up going past whatever was in there. So if you pull a 180 and face the opposite way then boost a few times you might just find something. Having good sensors will also help here. I've got something really naff on my Vulture and it's a bit of a hinderance!

Can't say I'm having this problem.
There's usually something there or something just left.
Sometimes there's merit it staying in a Source until something happens like Pirates appear, other times not.
I play in Solo though, I've no idea if that is a potential factor or not.
Running C5 sensors on an Asp if that helps.

I had a thought that you could use a detailed surface scanner to scan them and it might tell you basic information like "2 small ships" or "1 medium ship and 2 small ships" or something.

No, I'm afraid. It refers, I guess, to the mass. So a weak SS could be, maybe one ship, or that cannister you're looking for. A strong could be a massive wing who will eat you, or some pointless b*ggers miiling about, wasting your play time.

It is STILL a randomised mechanic - better than it was (honestly!) - but better done away with entirely.

(I agree, you should wait a while to see what appears..)

If you cut your Thrusters, Shield and hit Silent Running and deploy a few Heatsinks then perhaps the NPC feels this way too ;0
