Greetings Commanders,

Thank you to everyone in this thread who has contributed their thoughts on The Enclave, it's been extremely insightful and helpful and will contribute to future events. We will relay this back to the development team.
Thanks again!

Thanks Stephen - it's great to see the feedback being passed on! Already looking forward to the next II :)

We're repairing the stations after the Thargoid attack, and generally getting the lay of the land still. Got a good community going over in the Enclave Phases thread, do pop over to say 'hi' if you're so inclined!

As far as we know, you can get the bobblehead any time. The decal probably won't be available forever, but reportedly you can still get it for now. The newly colonized systems in the Witch Head are hopefully permanent, although I suspect we haven't yet seen the full destructive force the 'goids can unleash.

In terms of the decal situation, as there hadn't been an official announcement of them going away, I decided to fly over and see what is going on.

Today I docked at all 6 of the named stations in question (all of them except Ezra Point still needing repair supplies at the time of writing), finishing at Hanna Enterprise just now. After landing at each of them, none of them have added the new decal to my account.

I think the decal was awarded during the II, which concluded on 8th

So I charge down to Maia in my explorer ship to help Palin and transport my AX ship across & it's over before I could get involved. So I get in my explorer ship and goto the witchhead nebula and transport my AX ship & it's already over. Too quick FD !

It's a shame the II left things half finished. There are several stations still awaiting repairs out there - leaving a dedicated cadre of lunatics to haul large quantities of materials mind-boggling distances often for little or no financial return.
What happens when the stations are repaired - other than normal station services are resumed? It would be nice if something special were done with meta-alloys or AEGIS, but given the II is over, I doubt it.
As many have previously suggested I'd like to see a specialised "trucker" paint job for taking part in repair efforts - or a "rescue" one for helping with the station evac... to reward those who partake in these activities for the good of the game.

I agree with most of the points here. It was a good experience. Sure, the Alliance starport distance was terrible, but in a way, it felt more desperate but also rewarding even if we didn't reach Tier 10, many of us fell asleep at the joystick because we were going to make a change in the real galaxy, an expansion and we really had to try hard.

I'm not much into combat because I suck at it, but maybe of the the "destroy thargoids" could have been a combat CG? Just thinking aloud.

Thanks FD. Well done.

I join the praise! Overall a very enjoyable experience, one that I wish to participate in again.

The only negative I wanted to point out is that the narrative was forum-driven. This really should be an in-game experience. In form of say a message, ability to join the activity, being led through the story by an in-game narration.

This is exactly what I'd love to see for single-player missions in Elite, too. Those obviously wouldn't have a lasting effect on the galaxy, more like a monetary award and perhaps even mission specific livery.

Edit: to explain why I bring single player out; I was on vacation these last two weeks and was hardly able to join in. SP missions would be available at all time.

I'd echo the thoughts of the Op too.

One thing I'd add, and acknowledge there might be <reasons> this hasn't happened, but where we've had specific settlements crop up as a result of these II's, can we have some missions contextually relevant to the region on the boards?

If the point of the Witch Head colonisation was to access further sources of Meta Alloys, surely there'd be missions to at least source them? Likewise for guardian items in the stations resulting from Bridging the Gap?

Woah there! Lets be realistic here, that makes waaay too much sense! Next thing you will be asking for destroy Thargoid missions, available from stations in the same system that has them running amok....😂

A quick extra comment from me - something that's been a little bit of a negative for both Bridging the Gap and The Enclave is that most of the action has taken place in systems which only have catalogue names.

Witch Head Sector DL-Y d26 and Witch Head Sector HW-W c1-9 (and I can't even remember what the systems from Bridging the Gap were called now) are not particularly memorable or useful names.

It's a lot easier to talk about "Thargoids attacking Merope" than it is to talk about "Thargoids attacking Witch Head Sector KC-U b3-0", and it's also less prone to typos - "I went to W.H.S. KC-V b3-0 and don't see anything."

I know at the moment (unless you're hiding a new feature for more "I didn't know they could do that" shock effect?) system renames need a client patch, which makes them difficult to put in mid-II, but if that can be made a server-only update, it would be possible to give the systems names just before they first get mentioned, which will make them easier to talk about.

Whether or not that's possible, it'd also be good to give the systems from the first two IIs a proper name in the September patch.

I agree that it would be an improvement if we could do more co-ordination etc in game.

There are some of us working to get the stations up and running, but we're having to co-ordinate through the Enclave thread. We're aware that other people are working on the stations but we have no real way of contacting them other than putting out a call on the system comms and hoping somebody is in system at the same time.

I dunno, it kinda feels like Frontier did with the Thargoids what Star Trek did with the Borg. They went from being this scary, unbeatable foe to just another dime-a-dozen enemy. Personally I wish "The Enclave" went the other direction, where we established these stations, only to have them totally and utterly destroyed by a massive Thargoid incursion. I'd love to see a station turned into a debris field of many large chunks!

Witch Head nebula could have become the 'Enclave' of the Thargoids, earning it's scary namesake. Instead it turned the Thargoids into tame house pets and the typical "good guys always win no matter what" trope.

I agree. If the WH meta alloys were so important to the Thargoids as to prompt them to call off their invading forces, why were the incursions not especially difficult to clear? Why did they not launch a counterattack the following week? Perhaps these things are coming but I felt it was a little inconsistent for them to essentially just give up on their meta alloy sources in the Witch Head Nebula.

I was hoping they would go into panic mode when their incursions were repelled and call in a much larger force, potentially including a new variant, a new attack strategy (I.e., unpredictable shutdown blasts, automatic hostility upon hyperdictions, etc.) or even the much-anticipated motherships.

Ultimately, I felt the initial phases were excellent but the conclusion was kind of disappointing.

One additional point: the reward was kind of lame. It would have made more sense from a story-perspective for Aegis to release some new meta-alloy technology now that new sources were secured. For example, as Yamiks pointed out, new or re-balanced meta-alloy infused armor or HRPs that have a slow but consistent regeneration rate. Or anything that would make our ships more effective against the more difficult interceptor variants.

FD is definitely on the right track. I hope they can continue this trend of improvement and continue advancing the story line through player-driven events.
