Please dude.

People just think they add new and more powerfull content. Nobody can imagine they will add obsolete content.

Tech Broker stuff widouth enginnering are more dificult to unlock than enginners and are far away to have a decent advantage (Asides from corrosion resistent cargo racks and guardian weapons VS Thargs).

An analogy: Imagine that intel release a new processor today, this processor have 2 cores and 2.5 Ghz and can't be upgraded (I'ts welded on the motherboard) Costing $400
While people already have I7, i5, i3 that are more powerfull, some cases costs less and the most important: CAN BE UPGRADED.

Im keeping asking myself why release outaded stuff... this make any sense;

It takes less time to just get those mats and engineer a better Human-PP. I needed Days of Grinding for that epsilon pattern Data. The normal PP would have just cost me a few hours.

The guardian power plant is a pretty poor return on material and time grind.
Not at all impressed with the stats and performance having unlocked it. The power increase benefit is ruined by huge mass increase, huge rebuy increase, and worst of all, the heat increase.
2.4 engineering (before engineering became a horrible material sink), 3-4 grade overcharged power plants could get similar performance, and with a nice secondary roll would be generally better.
Has someone that actually plays the game done the maths on this module? At the moment it's a total waste of time and money imo.
Would have thought Guardian tech (what a cool concept, right?!), and the required effort would have a better return for players.
Please buff.

I hope that's not accurate. I really do.
1) turn engineering into a horrible material-sink, and ruin it.
2) provide guardian modules that should be cooler/better/more awesome in most ways (c'mon! guardian tech, how cool right?!), but are actually just a means to half-heartedly bypass now crap engineering.

Comparing the guardian power plant stats with those of an A-rated G5 overcharged power plant... they are so similar it can't be a coincidence. This must be by design, but I can't guess what the design is.

I don't think a new module as a drop-in replacement was the right approach. A "power amplifier", taking another slot and giving 20% more power and heat would have been an interesting thing.

I have already unlocked the two weapons...the grind was ok. Take me two days.

The PP ... I just lack of Epsilon data. But I don't feel the motivation to unlock it. Except for my explorer or taxi, I can maybe will a Ly of so. But I will wait before finish it.

They said they will think about engineer able those new techs. They just probably didn't want to release it so fast. And they want to balance them correctly.

I just can't past over the price increase ... this is stupid.

To be honest I can't understand why players think that ED would unbalance the game with the introduction of superior 'Alien' Technology, seriously, it would render all standard game ships and equipment useless and all new players would be at a serious disadvantage,
just imaging in a game where bows and arrow were the chosen weapon and the Crossbow was the god but with a disadvantage of being slow to load...
then we introduce a shop selling machine guns... yo, top tech, everyone needs that,
all the grinding players have done to carve their own bow out of Ancient silverwood and string it with Black Worghide (I made them up) all out the window cos it can't compete with the Machine gun.

I confidently predict that precisely this ^^ will happen but in Season 4, not 3.

To recap:

Season 1 = Vanilla
Season 2 = RNGineers
Season 3 = 'Better than god rolled' uber-RNGineers
Season 4 = Alien Tech
Season 5 = Something Moar OP than Alien Tech

Each season supersedes everything in the prior one, it's a season/reward power creep model. Tbh I can understand the commercial realities behind it.

Good way to miss my point. Guess i have to be more clear: The combination of the new PP, along with engineering, was obviously way overpowered and much too good to be true. So, if something obviously is too good to be true, some people conclude that "all in" is the only logical way to go.

Like i said (somewhere) before, while i still think that a regulary G5ed G-PP would be over the top, some individuality would be nice.

The most obvious thing, that would come to my mind here, is to add some kind of synthesis with other Guardian Tech, so that outfitting a G-PP would make other Guardian Modules more efficent/powerfull/add "secondarys"... (dunno how complicated it would be to implement something like this though)

I get where you a coming from up to a point. However the concern about unbalancing the game (umm look what engineers did?) and the comparison you've used is over the top. This generally lacks imagination.
1) It's alien technology, and with the meaning of the word - it should be as different as ...umm ...conceivable (not just same same but different).
2) There are a million different benefits a guardian power plant could offer instead of just same same but different - bad examples include:
2.1) an epic power plant that's only available for small ships (think: enhanced thrusters which are an epic bonus to small ships), and that would give vipers/cobras etc some limited viability against bigger ships.
2.2) a power plant that gives guardian weapons 'free' power (or similar). The guardian plasma chargers are mostly useless for PVE anyway.

There are a million ways to keep the 'precious balance' while actually introducing a power plant that isn't just the equivalent of an overcharged one. For that much epsilon data. I feel dead inside after all that.

yes u r right... lot of people think about himself... but I want u say, ofcourse it is good for new players to have options but, if they gonna do it everything like that to sell game to new players... arrange everything for them, old players will gonna start whining offcourse... because they spend hours, days, weeks, months even years to get there and all of a sudden, a new player will be at the same spot with them... ok, it is good to be game sold.. by that we can have new content, but if all that new content will be for new players (means for new sells...new money) then old players will gonna leave the game. and yes because they already paid their share, FD may not be care about that, but it is not ethical I have to say...

I didn't grind for Guardian technology but from what i can see an engineered Guardian PP should be the stock Guardian PP (with a slight reduction in power output) :

Guardian PP needs to have advantage and drawback and this is the case with an engineered one.

Currently it's just bad in all aspects compared to human technology when it supposed to be more advanced...

I like the idea of Guardian PP to be the Prismatic version of PP.

It was a pretty light show at least

On a more serious note, other than the increased power capacity I didn't notice any additional perks for a fully Guardian'd set. The Guardian Powerplant runs too hot and is too heavy for my Courier, so I had to switch away from it.
