Engineers 3.0: Welcome to ATR Farming

With the changes brought to engineers we heard yesterday in the live stream, I am convinced FD is negating immediately what they are trying to achieve with the new Crime & Punishment system: ATRs will be farmed as Police condas currently.

Currently, a big 3, engineered to mid-range G5 (i.e. couple of G5 rolls once engineers and rep unlocked), can tank system security for as long as ammo doesn't run out, and maybe use an SCB once or twice.

In the new C&P, after a while ATR will show up to stop this. However...

It will take 5 rolls per module or so to turn the mid-range G5s in new G5 god rolls. We can keep any weapons with both special effects and secondaries, as they won't likely be possible in the new scheme, and there you go:

CMDR ships that are more engineered or equivalent to ATR ships, but flown by human pilots against AI. With all due respect to SJA, MoM, I don't see how AI can beat a reasonable human pilot - especially as long as NPCs get utterly confused by pilots flying FA Off.

Hence, ATR farming.

I will take you are new here and don't remember 2.1.

If you don't, well, all due respect to you, but you don't know subject matter very well.

I was going to post a reaction to your opening salvo... But after careful consideration, I thought better of it. ;)

I am sure the challenge has been accepted.

Yes, you must be new to this  Yet you are experienced in the forum. I can only imagine this thread is a tease, for which I have fallen :p

Simple fix, fit ATR ships with uniquely overpowered weapon and special effects combinations.

Efficient Rapid Fire Long Range Corrosive Reverberating Cascade Railguns will ruin most peoples day rather quickly. Lol

NPCs rarely miss with railguns. :D

CMDR Cosmic Spacehead
Not against a full wing of FAS with heavyduty prismatics and healing beams :p

So you will take down one ATR. With swarm of ATRs around you.

Sure :)

I take it the OP missed this post.

I am super grinning! :D ATR ships are all super-engineered, all piloted by Elite pilots with everything dialled to max, plus with some extra bits of AI logic thrown in for good measure! They have some pretty awesome weaponry, so don't expect those engineered shields to last long against these beasties! ;) If you fight against these, you WILL be taking damage, so it becomes a question of how much you're prepared to spend on repairs... And if by some miracle you manage to destroy one, expect more and more to come...

Are you willing to bet on it?
I do.

I have the sneaking suspicion you'll not be able to farm ATR. Ha ha.

No thanks. ATR should abide by the same rules as players. No magic nonsense, no unique modules that we can't get, no cheating, no god mode. If they are indestructible then they are boring 1 dimensional game play - run away.

To be fair, most of the 2.1 problem was broken engineered weapons on NPCs - not mods that followed the rules.

If the plan is for ATR ships to cheat, well that's pretty damn lame.

the only problem during 2.1 was the bug with plasma accellerators having the same rate of fire of class 2 MC, the AI was a bit frustrating because medium ships used to run a bit too much but it was mostly fine.
the nerf to the AI was uncalled for and a the majority of the players agreed with that( at least the vocal ones did).

healing beams do almost no damage and it becomes literally 0 if they're used on a friendly target, i'd gladly welcome a wing like that, i can tank and ignore a single ship for minutes.

edit: if you think adding cheating NPCs is a valid way to balance a game i seriously fear the future of ED

I urge to remind you that after that sentence he got one arm and both legs removed with a lightsaber AND got horribly burned by fiery lava.

But that's none of my businness... *sips tea*
that was just a minor set back, he made quite the comeback after that :)
