Error on start Vcomp100.dll missing - help please

Hi All,

Just finished building my new PC to play on. New pc is Win8.1 - I have trackIR, but when I try to start elite by clicking on the play button - it waits ages and then throws up this error:

EliteDangerous.exe - System Error
The program can't start because VCOMP100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

I've reinstalled the .net framework, elite, tracker and still no joy.

Any great ideas out there?

Have you updated your Windows after installation to the latest service pack?

Thats what I was going to suggest as well. Its always a good idea to check regularly for the latest windows updates I think.

Thanks guys.

After uninstalling and reinstalling the redistribution packages several times I decided to actually load the whole Visual Studio Express shooting match and that seems to have done the trick.

I'm now happily blasting canisters and attempting (badly) to shoot things down.

I now need to sort out:

A) my X-55 - I believe that the full dual USB support will not be available until the beta - I think I'll wait for this before trying anything else. I'm not sure I can go through the pain others are describing.

B) Support for NVidia surround.
