It is true that in the unconscious, the England and the United Kingdom are the same thing
I'm sorry to get serious, but that makes zero sense, in fact, it's like saying Texas is the same as the United States, Texas is a state in a nation of United States, England is a nation in a union of nations, it's the United States as a whole that elects a president, not just Texas, and it's the UK as a whole that will vote in this EU referendum, not just England.

I think Patrick's point was that for whatever reason the terms England and UK can be synonymous in France, no matter how erroneous the statement may be. I don't think any offence was intended there.

I completely agree. It's just a confusion of a certain part of the population due to lack of geographical and historical knowledge. Do not see an insult in there

It is exactly what I wanted to say

Oh i agree, no offence was intended, i even have English friends who think it's ok to say England instead of the UK or Britain in the context that we understand, but still, as a proud Brit and a proud Welshman, i think it's important to correct people.

Understood completely that no offence was intended, and no offence was taken by me. :). Surprised and disappointed that, in this day and age, the misconception is so prevalent in France of all counties - that's all.

Folks

Let's stick to the topic, which was the upcoming Brexit vote.
Britain's vote on membership of the E.U. has become farce. No one is telling the people of the UK etc, the truth, basically, because no one knows what the real effects will be; either way.

China is dictating how the world economy works and what happens depends on them, more that the out come of this vote.

The world in general want us to stay; because if we vote to leave, then other member states will demand a vote of their own and this will create a domino effect. This would have a major effect on all of the worlds, economies.

The E.U. member states don't want us to leave, for the same reason.

The rich and multi-national businesses don't want us to leave, due to the economic turmoil and the mass of paper work, to be sorted afterwards.

P.S. I am British. Not English, or Welsh, Northern Irish or a Scott. Just British, not born on UK soil: Now please someone send me back to the place of my birth, where the cost of food, fuel, (of all kinds) alcohol and smokes are cheaper than here in the U.K. Which is already the most expensive place; to buy all of the above, within the E.U.

Yeah, this has been a farce, both sides are fearmongering, but i'm still going with remain, i voted UKIP once in an MEP election, but that was to send a message that Europe needs to change it's ways at lesst with regard to us, but i'm labour through and through when it comes to domestic policy, the Unions, Corbyn, the greens and lib dems want to remain and to be perfectly honest so do i if it means neglecting right wingers their chance to assert control over human and workers rights, yes there is a risk of wage undercutting getting worse, but there is no guarantee we will sort it out even after leaving the EU, our best bet is to force employers to pay even those foreigners the minimum wage (which they are entitled to under EU and UK law) so that employers have no reason to pick Poles and Romanians over Brits.

The British people are experiencing the worst propaganda assault the world has ever seen from every institution and world leader in the western world. Fortunately the majority of the British tax payers that keep the rest of the UK afloat , the English , are not getting brainwashed.
One thing we are all learning in the UK, is how the rest of the world feels when the west attacks them with spin, propaganda and fear tactics.

The English are about to bark loudly and it seems the interfering world are crapping themselves, because apparently world war is about to break out, global economic Armageddon is about to occur and the EU will collapse, according to the spin doctors of the in campaign and those interfering world leaders and economic institutions.
