Everyone that is BASICALLY happy with the game post here please

Big Thumbs Up From Me - loving it so far.

I'm loving the Game concept -'I don't ask the devs to tell me what to do, so they don't tell me how to do what I need to know to do it.'

If that's not a Life learning experience I don't know what is.

love it, love it, love it, bit of a fan boy from the original and didn't discover ED it till the end of gamma - so missed out all the testing :(

Its a game for the playing over a long time- and using common sense! Maximum enjoyment and longevity. Could have grinded for big ships, glad I've not...yet. Really happy with my viper and cobra (I still have to cannibalize one to play with the other). This will last me years! Looking forward to planetary landings to bring back the feel off FE2 / FFE. Loving my limited experiences of PvP... looking for more.

Very happy. I love the open ended feel to it, and not being pigeon holed into doing some daily quest list, and being able to do anything I like.

I've decided I'm going to work on owning at least one of every ship, fully pimped out, as a long term goal.

Yesterday i decided to go for an explore and headed 1000ly out and back in a couple hours (just jumping, scan, jump, not visiting every object in the sytem) in an ASP. Lost money on the trip but it was fun and got me a new rank on the explorer tab.

Lots to do, and i actually like trading trips as I can read up on other stuff while the auto docking does it's job;-)

I can't get enough of the game, personally, especially adding in all of the intrigue being created by players amongst the different superpowers and factions. Something that is only going to get better with time.

It reminds me - in a good way - of being 8 again when I played the original. For the first few weeks of playing, it reminded me of a feeling I'd long forgotten as an adult - when, just after christmas you got some fantastic new toys to play with and couldn't wait to get up each morning to carry on playing with them. :)

Many 100's of hours and still enjoying it. In a really good place in elite gameplay terms. Interstellar drifter - Tinker, tailor, soldier, spy ...... Whatever I feel like at any given moment. Thats what ED allows me to do. Beautiful and its only going to improve.

in general im happy with it
except:
- the huge grind factor
- the total OPness of trading
- OPness of multi role ships in general
- lack of content
- scientific nonsense in the procedural system generation
- lack of opposing community goals
and some other issues

but the general game and its potential is huge

So many negative threads

Can we have one that big ups what we like about this game?

just post one thing you absolute love about the game please.

We all want changes and we all want the bits that would be great - but post if you are BASICALLY happy with where the game is and where it is going..

I love the out of ship cam.

yes it could be slicker aND MORE USER FRIENDLY- but thank you developers for adding the out of ship cam *KISS*

very !
its been a challenging couple of months
but
I love it - especially compared to improvements since '84
I also know 9 people who play it and feel the same - they are not forum members (see prev thread somewhere on the silent majority !)
Ive gamed since the 80's, been in IT for 35 years

I like PotatoOverdoses quote a lot "I think FDev did a really good job in making space flight a visceral experience."

I think what is lacking in some of the threads is a bit of trust and hope that we will get more but we need to
look at what we've actually got and not, as the esteemed Mr Jim Bowen would say "Look what you could have won"

If you just bought the game and didnt invest earlier theres actually a lot for your money in the base galaxy
you can go poke your way around. This is not quake, doom, battefield, call of duty etc. Its a space simulator
written by space enthusiasts ... for enthusiasts. And theres no montly fee so actually a lot of value for money
when I look at some of the cr** ive paid for over the years.

Im in !

The only problem with E: D is that when I try to tell people how awesome it is, I start to sound like Roy Batty :D

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe..."

I find it amusing to think that people now consider 30-40 hours of gameplay a 'grind'. I remember playing Korean style grinder games where you got 2% an hour towards your next level with boosts on at level 120 and the game went up to level 180, which literally took a year or more of solid grinding.
What's OP about trading- it generates lots of cash but can be risky and/or tedious, if it wasn't lucrative no one would do it and the economy would collapse.

The game is what you make of it, something that is generally missing from many modern MMO's that tend to hand hold you or force you into daily routines, and hence why some people just don't get it.

Elite is different from those games, and people need to adjust their thinking when coming to play it.
