And I can say the same too, I was a happy M/S Flight Simmer for years with thousands of hours logged but since Beta one has been out I have only log in
about a hundred hours or so, I loved Elite the first time around and love it still.:D

There's so much I can say in support of this game, but I'm gonna keep it short... I'm one week in and I'm having a blast for hours every day with friends! We come up with new things to do every day and there's a lot of adventure to be had. Also, I never owned a joystick or any other flight peripherals for that matter, and after just two days of playing I got a joystick right away and it makes you so in touch with the game. Really great immersion!

Just to add to my already very happy state, I did as described here and upped my field of view to 70 degrees.

The difference for me was amazing, and suddenly I'm in a huge ship, landing in massive stations, and feeling very small in space.

If you've not tried this (very easy) tweak, I heartily recommend giving it a go - for me it has really brought Elite alive, and increased my enjoyment hugely!

I am at the most basic level, happy with the game. I enjoy it because I have wanted a space flight game for a long time now, and the play space is massive. My friends and I have a blast flying in wings together too.

More than "basically" happy, I love this game so far. It has a great foundation laid which hopefully will now blossom into a full multi-player universe.

Exactly - it's a brilliant starting point which is great in it'self but boy what WILL it become?

I love playing ED as it makes a connection back via the Arc and Beeb versions to a time when I had patience and commitment and ambition and dogged determination :) All the material resources we'll ever need are up there, all the energy we'll need is up there, our future as a species is up there and it's fun to play at being in the future. A hundred years ago we collectively thought the Milky Way was the extent of the universe, now we've got a model of it on the desktop to play in. Let's hope we get out in the real thing before we revert our oxygen atmosphere back into a carbon one by burning all the fossil fuels while out-competing all the other mega fauna into bio-diversity oblivion and reverting back to green goo!

I'm happy with it, my only major concern is will the devs drop support for it one day, making the game unplayable due to lack of online? I hope that's not for a long long time.

I'm enjoying it very much. Is it perfect? No. But I like the direction it's headed in. Considering the mess that STO has become of late I think this one's gonna be a real winner when all the pieces are in place.
