Everyone that is BASICALLY happy with the game post here please

I haven't posted on the forums in a while, but I just want to let the devs know that I am another happy customer. I feel that the game is far from complete, but that doesn't stop it being a fantastic game in so many important ways (The realistic galaxy, the sound, the total freedom). I spent more money on this than any other game, but it's worth it to have watched it grow from the fantastic combat demo of the first alpha to the entire galaxy being our playground with much more to come. Each update is a another fantastic step forward and this next big update sounds like it'll be the best so far. When landing on planets or walking around our ships or persistent NPCs that can be in your contacts list come, I might die of excitement.

I am pretty happy with the game itself, for the most part. It scratches an itch I've had for years but wasn't really able to do anything about because getting my old space dogfighting games running on Windows 7 or 8 was excruciatingly painful at best.

I am, however, very unhappy with the quality of Frontier's customer service department. A customer should never, under any circumstances, have to wait a week and a half to hear back on a support ticket when they are stuck and unable to play the game and were told by support to update a very specific ticket. It's even more unacceptable for it to take two days for a response to a new stuck ticket when the original didn't get responses, and then for there to be no actual assistance rendered, nor any response to my reply for 5 days (and still counting!) after that.

The game's great.

You guys seriously need to get your together in the customer service zone, though. Like, really badly.

Yep, I'm pretty happy with ED. And I'm happy with the direction the devs are going. Looking forward to planetary landing to enhance the exploration experience, especially once flora and fauna are included in that experience. I'm hoping starship graveyards, wormholes, and alien artifacts makes it into the game, as well.

Am I happy with the game? Let me put it this way. Part of me wants to know the number of hours I've played it. The other part fears to know...

Very happy with the game! My only complaint is that Frontier might change something to break it.. Give my Vulture water squirters for weapons, class 1G! Give my Asp a 3Ly jump radius. Give my Sidey... ah well, the Sidey came pre-nerfed. ;)

Thrilled with the game, I really hope the updates keep on coming. Planetary entry / landings (particularly if they add detailed procedurally generated planets) will take this game onto another level again.

The real complaint is how much this game has cost me. A copy of Win 8.1, just for playing E:D. A 64GB thumb drive to help install on a Mac. A TM Warthog. TrackIR 5 Pro. MFG Crosswind pedals on order... yikes. What's next, a HD projector? Oooooh. A HD projector!

I love this game. For me, the biggest thing about it is the atmosphere and the immersion. It tickles my imagination in a way that lets stories and movies play out in my head based on nothing but a random encounter or a quick mission.

The setting is fairly unique in that it truly is a "cutthroat galaxy", as the studio advertised, with lots of dirt and grit and shades of grey, as opposed to the usual sci-fi fare of artificial gravity, clean surfaces, and good versus bad. Keeping the technology fairly within the realm of what seems possible today, and highlighting the many flaws of humanity as a species, makes Elite as a setting more realistic, whilst simultaneously having that allure of freedom for the independent pilots, and the small glimmer of hope as represented by stuff like mankind's expansion to other stars or a greater inclusiveness amid the population compared to today. I've become a fan of the novels, which certainly helped shape the setting and my image of it. And lastly, as someone whose very first PC game ever was the original Elite on a 486 DX2 with 8 MB-RAM, there is also a distinct nostalgia bonus, which is only increased further by what I feel are environmental design influences of various oldschool movies such as Blade Runner etc.

It's great to be here and watch the game grow, and I can't wait for PowerPlay and the other features I expect to come to Elite some day (passengers, NPC crews, shared cockpits, planetary landings, character customisation and FPS activities).

My only regret is that I didn't jump at the physical collector's edition box back in the Kickstarter, too, erroneously believing that I only need the digital download. Now I'm sitting here, jealous of that shirt and the map! :D

GTA V is the only game thats going to take any time away from ED but i plan on playing both daily.

I love this game. When I played the original on the beeb, it blew me away. No other game has managed that since, until now. ED is bang up to date, but gives me the same rush as the original did then. A masterpiece.

Love this game. And I can't stop speculating what will come with power play and beyond. Hell if it's half as good as what I think it will be freaking amazing.

I guess this is a good opportunity to make my first post. I've never put more time in a game than ED. Well, Super Mario Land 2 was my first game and I STILL play that game from time to time (that original grey Gameboy is indestructible), but ED is the first game in years that I can't seem to put down for months on end.

Thanks Frontier!

I think this is a cracking game - I am retired now and play this for a few hours every day. Have done some trading, upgraded to a hauler, done some rares trading - upgraded to a T6, curently exploring. Still lots to do. Only other game that I have always wanted to play constantly was/is GTA IV which I compare favourably as you could do what you wanted in that game, and was it any different in regards to progression?

I am basically happy with the game, it looks great and feels smooth most of the time and is quite enjoyable when I just fancy flying around either trading or doing abit of combat.

The only downside to the game for me is the frame drops but I can deal with those as long as I don't try and run the game at 4K and stick to 1440 instead even though I still get drops from 190fps to 25fps now and then.

Take that back! I'll not have you dissing my little Sidey! ;)

Flying a Sidey in a big, dangerous galaxy is a badge of honour. You laugh in the face of danger. You snort derisively at adversity. You tackle combat with one hardpoint tied behind your back. People who fight in Vultures and Anacondas are big girls blouses who haven't learnt how to take the training wheels off yet. They're not worth the heat off your discarded heat cells.

I salute you, brave Sidey pilot! ;)

Oh, I don't fly it every day! I'm not insane! ;) It's a Sunday funday sort of thing. :)

Besides, an "A" thrustered/disto, toughened Sidey doing stunts around an Orbis at speed, using FAOFF for the turns is a complete riot that you can't have in any other ship! Skimming through the superstructure, nipping through small gaps and boosting whenever you feel like it. With a thumping soundtrack on. Legendary stuff.

This game clearly rox.

I love a lot of things in it. Example: we fly in a quite close replica of Milky Way which is one of the 'thrill factor' for me.

GREAT EXPERIENCE, best in years in gameplay.

I have been loving the game since it was in test pieces during alpha.

I love that it is growing and improving and not just a 'finished product'/AS-IS game that never sees its full potential.

It continues to grow and improve with a good foundation to build off of. There is something for most everyone and enough variety to be able to do other things once one thing starts getting too boring or tedious. There is room to grow and support shows a willingness to keep making E: D a game we will continue to enjoy for a very long time to come.

Probably my current (which may change as my mood changes) favorite part of the game is bounty hunting (with war zones being a close 2nd to that) in and around resource extraction sites, weaving aimlessly through an asteroid field, spotting laser fire in the distance, boosting over and picking off wanted ships. It just feels right and it is far more engaging than hunting USS' for the (far too) occasional encounter with a wanted ship OR the self-damaging (to hull and integrity) interdiction methods available for bounty hunting.
I look forward to seeing improvements to interaction (Comms, wings invites, instancing, etc.) as well as more major game play additions and insertions that are being planned and upcoming, as well as those in the more distant future.

This game, a true nod to it's roots from 1984, is so very TARDIS-esque whereby from a fresh or seasoned veteran perspective it's bigger on the inside. So much more than a casual glance or limited review can convey. How do you convey that feeling of being your own ship captain in the Milky Way, making your way? It's something you can only truly appreciate if you commit some time and do it. Be it trader, pirate, bounty hunter, explorer or crazed murderer. It waits for you to make the choice and it can completely and utterly pull you in. At least it does for ME.
YMMV
Fly safe Commanders!
