Exploration has changed a bit

I've noticed the route plotter is plotting much faster, I was able to plot 18k LY in about 10 seconds.

Planets look different too. Here's a shot of what the planets in Oevasy SG-Y d0 look like now.

Also noticed first discovery tags are gone. A little disappointing. Hopefully they fix it.

I thought they said they were rolling those back on account of more people wanting to go out and discover, so to encourage it they got rid of some of the older tags.

Haha, no.

Surely not!

Its a joke. My bet is server issues and they have difficulty loading. Or a bug. Its definitely not intentional. [haha]

edit: I only see them upon jumping into a for-me new system with tags, but then on return I lose them. Seems they are there but wont load if you already visited the system.

I've noticed that the recipes for FSD boost have changed too, it requires carbon and the big boost only requires one niobium, before I think it required 3.

that's in the patch notes

But jumping star to star has changed .... you have to reduce speed to minimum during the countdown now if you want to stop at the star ... it doesn't work during hyperspace.

Not a problem unless (a) like me, you went away from keyboard;

(b) you end up at a White Dwarf or Neutron Star

I consider that a bug, although I haven't read the patch notes. :)

Nope...stopping on entry was the bug:

  • Fixed throttle automatically setting to zero when exiting a hyperspace jump

I've never had it automatically set to 0 when exiting hyperspace. I've always either gone at max speed around the star or hit X (the button I have keyed to put throttle to 0). I haven't really noticed any change from how I've been doing it.

Oh this would be hilarious.

It's not ever going to be true, but can you imagine the howls! (Mine included.)

Yeah I would be pretty furious! Especially since I've travelled 120k LY over the last few months and made over 8600 scans, I'd lose a lot of tags.

I'm okay with no first discovery tags; couldn't give a flying squirrel fart if Lord XxStinkySockShoexX discovered a planet. [haha]

So all those images I saved of planets so that I could recognise Water worlds and Ammonia Worlds are now useless? To be honest, I soon learned what they looked like without having to look them up.

I couldn't see them then after a while playing they started showing up again.

Possibly just taking a very, very long time to load.

At least they haven't been removed though.

No.

In 2.4 it was behaving exactly as you say, which is 'normal'.

In BETA a bug was introduced which caused throttle to be set to zero on exiting a jump.

In 3.0 that bug (from BETA) has been fixed - that's what the patch notes refer to.

If the game now requires you to zero throttle during the countdown in order to come out of your jump at a stop, rather than being able to zero it whilst 'in the tunnel' that is also either a) a bug or b) an undocumented and profoundly irritating 'feature'. If true, I hope they sort it out.
