Hm. No one with me on this?
How about: for the LOADING SCREEN, instead of a generic orange HUD-styled model of our currently selected ship we get a non-HUD-styled view of our actual ship, with currently applied paint jobs, outfitting etc.?
Plus: maybe it could even be programmed so that while loading (and after loading has completed, until we click start or sth.), we could rotate the ship, zoom in etc.?
A sort of compromise, since we would get the ability to view our ship from the outside whilst not actually in game(play).
Anyway, happy Elite-ing, fellow CMDRS!![]()
What are the odds the reason there is no external view is because the only part of your ship being rendered by your game is the front half that you can turn around to see?
This would explain the bug with paintjobs for asp not showing at all, since the full texture wouldn't work on half the ship unless modified.
I've noticed weird rendering glitches when looking 90 degrees to the left in my asp, Planet textures do strange things based on your ship's viewing angle.
Even the most realistic simulators have external views. DCS-World, X-Plane, FSX, etc.
What is the point of buying "paintjobs" if you can't enjoy watching them?

Hi,
I think I can speak for a few players here on the forums who would like to know if we may get to see our ships out in the black this year?
Where is your source for "vast majority"?just don't hobble the vast majority of players who DO want it.
And to all those that say it 'breaks immersion' - piffle! Don't use the feature if you think so -
Everyday there is a new guy who wants an external camera in the semi official thread and everyday the same 5 old guys shoot the new guy down. Elite better wise up and listen to everyone not the 5 guys. Im part of the one who don't want the camera to be any use in combat, but considering everything, even a basic chase camera would not help in combat considering everything that has to be done while fighting.
