I make F1 simulators for a living, real ones, not for kiddies in their bedrooms, and even THEY have an external view option.........do they drive the car around from 50ft behind? No.........do they sometimes like to take Promo shots and look at the "worlds" in unique ways.....yes......

to those who are crying and don't like it......well....don't use it then.........you have to be some sort of stuck in the mud luddite to want a video game this good looking, without external views......

For all of those yelling that this would be used in combat, also ignorant of the feature because the external view used in simulations, are mostly for review and check, not for controlling, or allowing to do anything from outside the cockpit, just surveillance.
Or just want to ensure that it remains a FPV simulation.

To re-repeat myself - galaxy map, system view, outfitting. The game already takes us out of first person view.
No, because people will try to fight with the external view and when they fail they'll blame FD for lack of indicators when in external mode. There's enough moaning on this forum as it is without giving people more opportunities.
What is the harm in other people being able to view their ships?, its doesnt affect your gameplay at all.
a LOT of people have wanted this since the kickstarter days, its not like a group of arcade game fanatics have turned up and started protesting.

People with no situational or spacial awareness now have some features to help them, which is pretty lame. The dumbing down has begun.
Those three are acceptable, obviously you would be out of the ship during outfitting.

You do realise the people asking for an external view are not doing it for situational awareness, or spacial awareness? Indeed, if you stop to think for a second, if you drop into an external view mode, with no scanner (HUD) it could be argued that you are sacrificing said situation and spacial awareness? But let's not let facts get in the way of an argument...People with no situational or spacial awareness now have some features to help them, which is pretty lame.

I don't see how it's arcade-like at all.
For me personally it's one feature I've been waiting for. It would have been nice to be camera drones but in the case of everything or nothing, I'd like something.
