Fall DLC 2023 Speculation

It seems so similar to the wombat in the niche it would fill in game.
Quite different in niche for me personally:
  • They're more of a filler species than wombats are, at least in Australia. We currently don't really have any useful filler species for Australia (closest is probably the wallaby) so they'd be very useful in that regard
  • Quokkas are often kept in mixed habitats with other species while wombats normally must be kept alone. Ignoring the fact that they're found on the other side of the continent they're probably the best species we currently have to realistically mix with koalas for example (small mammals like potoroos, echidnas and quokkas will often be added to koala habitats to increase the amount of activity)
  • Quokkas are not only able to be walkthrough as you said, but they're often in children's zoos due to their cuddly appearance and friendly disposition

Ok, so my bad I see it now. Thanks for explaining!

Ngl i just love when people point out how much votes has X animal, but then you look a little bit right and you see 8% of all votes lol.

Searching for blue bird with orange beak. Nice!
A little fun on the side.

No news yet 😭

Maybe this makes me a bit basic but I'd love a quokka. I love their little chainsaw-smuggling grins. What enigmatic creatures. I really love building habitats for tiny creatures, it's a whole different challenge and allows me to focus on micro details. It's really satisfying. I don't use the diorama feature but it's a bit like that, making a tiny perfect world. Bubbles + quokkas = heaven.

I'm really excited about all the possible entries for this pack. Yes please little blues 💙 and omg pleeeease lorikeets 🌈 is it too much to wish for?

I am just dyinnnnng to find out. My bejeezus how my work suffers on announcement weeks.

Given I got the quote notification saying this was originally about my post, I never said "omg guys quokka has so many votes clearly a top wishlist animal". It was just higher than I expected it to be. Like the fact it ranks above the yellow-footed rock-wallaby on both randomgoat's and SuzieSky's metawishlist to become the most requested terrestrial macropod is surprising to me given I feel the rock-wallaby is actually discussed far more often.

I just saw that Australia zoo just got quokkas, maybe we will see a spotlight with the Irwin's like they did for Chester zoo and the tropical pack lol.

Actually that zoo is on the sunshine coast. "Sunshine smile" makes sense.

I had that exact Beany Baby when I was in pre school. You just hit me with a wave of nostalgia.

Scoop? Is that you?
Awwww thats cute! I had a black cat with white paws.
I also had a pelican stuffed toy that my aunt gave me for my birthday. I even still have that, because Steiff animals are very expensive

Who is Scoop? A friend from you?

Scoop is the name of the blue-grey pelican beanie baby you posted. Beanie baby designs are given a name a birthday and a poem.

Epic beanie baby enjoyer. While I don’t have Scoop he did basically inspire me to collect beanies. Too bad I cannot continue growing my collection right now…

I sorely doubt that.

Plus, let's face it, there's not a lot left in the rest of the temperate world (bar Asia) to cover. The American black bear and wild boar aren't hugely popular, even on this forum, no matter how often the same people bring them up.
I disagree. New Zealand and Tasmania are islands. Whenever people think of islands, they consider them tropical. So yes, it makes sense if most people would think that a Tasmanian devil or a kiwi are tropical species. I mean, the kiwi's name alone gives off a tropical vibe.

Also, there's way more than just the bear and the boar. Various deer species, raccoon dogs, coatis, ringtail cats, spectacled bear, wisent, wolverine, a North American lynx, European wildcat, turkey, pheasants, etc.

That's neat and kind of funny! What did you think of them?

This is a 100% personal opinion, but quokka seem a bit boring to me personally. Like it's a ground dwelling marsupial that looks like its smiling... It seems so similar to the wombat in the niche it would fill in game. I guess guests could enter the habitat unlike the wombats?
I don’t really get the concept of niches to be honest. Surely if it was just about that we’d have no new content because ostrich is a big bird, reindeer is a deer, kangaroo is a marsupial etc.

One of the great things about the game now is the growing variety we can choose from so we all have zoos with a different flavour.

I've spent a not insignificant amount of time in Tassie and still think tropical forest lol. The waterfalls, palms, and tree ferns get me. This is coming from someone who grew up in Gondwana Big Scrub territory.
