FAOFF Appreciation thread

Nice find brother, I actually followed the whole tutorial and did mine as well, and makes a lot of difference. I am going to move that Tutorial to the front.

After paying out for a X52 i would of thought something like this would of come with the software for it.

Yep you can put curves on yaw, I use the twist axis for roll so that was giving me problems as well as suffering from heavy handedness.

That's good to hear.

Will be on later to try this, but already thinking:

Set the curve up so the 1st 60-70% of movement is a controlled and steady increase, and the last 30-40% is a very sharp rise to 100% (the numbers can be played with).

Thinking this would allow a strong pulse of counter thrust when required, but still allow you to fine tune when needed.

This is how i've set it up for me.

It had taken an me a hour to find something comfortable.

Hi all,

Due to the weather i'm probably going to spend most of Sunday helping out the plague CG at bast either running cargo or interference to prevent people of questionable morals upsetting traders. Would be great if anyone wants to wing up.

NB due to celeberating my 30th the day before though i may be limiting fa-off to prevent nausea.

Also, ot, have some more vids coming with my comedy loadout cobra (i kill someone with a mine!)

To Jesse, Jacob, DarkseeD, Cliffson, Lemonhoko (anyone else, sorry if I've missed you out), I have to cancel on my participation on tomorrow's get together, and without boring you all with crappy excuses, suffice to say something has come up which I can't cancel unfortunately.

Huge heartfelt apologies to you all, I still yet may make it but I should at least be open and honest to say it is very doubtful I'll be available at any time on Saturday (tmrw). It can't be helped and is quite frustrating, was (am still) looking forward to meeting you all and have a bit of fa off fun, but from my perspective it will probably have to be another time. Can't do Sundays but Monday/Thursdays evenings, even through the day as I am self employed and those are my usual days off, if not next Sat, but I hope to catch up with you all very soon. Have a good'n yeah, and sorry for letting you all down. :(

I don't know if anyone else came across this video from AdoredTV, with 3rd party software to change the sensitivity of your joystick....

Excellent find.

Ok, speed I've a handle on;
Control is under control thanks to Curves;
Dust/Vector is driving me up the wall. I'm back to Lancer's tutorials tomorrow, there's something about dust/vector that I'm missing.

Thank you Lancer for keeping intouch with us...shows you respect who you are ingame and your friends...I look forward to someday flying with you, Jesse and the other FAOFF gang.

Hey guys,

my latest fight against the Odds, Enjoy.

...Needless apology...

You haven't let anyone down, RL is what it is my friend. Worth pointing something out, and as usual correct me if I'm wrong, Jesse has been largely influenced by you...Jesse has played no small part in getting me involved...I suspect that's the case for a few others so ummm...fundamentally this is all your fault.

PM-ed you mate, sorry I had no idea. I'd have enjoyed this more if I'd known :(

Is all good, we know we all have big responsibilities in life. Just let us know when, I am looking forward flying along your side and the rest of the guys. This is the beginning of great things.

I did tell you was going down.

I did tell you was going down.

I have a really horrible suspicion you sent that tell when I'd crashed (again). ED seems to be crashing my net and I think it may be P2P related :(

Tomorrow Sir, you have my axe!

EDIT:

Last message I got was about deadzones in Joystick Curves :(

I'm very glad that I discovered this thread. Isinona's videos were a significant reason as to why I purchased the game and a HOTAS to complement. There is something deeply satisfying and addictive when having complete thruster control and autonomy over your ship in the deep expanse of space. I guess I also keep thinking of hard science fiction literature and film (eg Interstellar's docking scene) and think of the hours of practice pilots put in their flying, in order to create an infinitesimally small amount of error to accuracy.

I look foward to flying with you someday CMDRs!

No worries, real life is real life after all, looking forward to meeting you eventually!

Awesome work Jesse, firing to the last. Hopefully our paths will cross one day soon so we can wing up.

Joystic Curves, possible Pro-Tip.

Set the Hotkey to your faoff/on toggle will activate Curves when in faoff, and deactivate when out of faoff. Perfect for me.

Appreciate your acceptance of my apology [and all that] from all/each of you, and very funny Jacob, I'll take some of the blame, but if the buck has to stop somewhere it should be with the guy who inspired me to learn in the first place myself, the maestro himself.. Isinona :)

Hope to catch up with you all in-game soon (perhaps next weekend?), feel free to send me a friend request on here, and in game.
