FAOFF Appreciation thread

Thanks.

I should be making some more PvP videos soon, now that back from Sag A*.

Its nice to see more skilled pilots joining this movement....if this gels into a nice guild...it would seem fun is in the works.

I still havent tried my hand at FAO pvp....but was taking on dangerous and deadly pythons and atleast one elite anaconda in CZ ...

Not sure if this is a bully tactic...but to jump into FAO pvp, I was planning on taking my scout with a bounty on my head into a starter zone and hoping a newb will interdict me...I know I know...it seems unfair...but hey..if they start the fight...hehe

Joystic Curves, possible Pro-Tip.

Set the Hotkey to your faoff/on toggle will activate Curves when in faoff, and deactivate when out of faoff. Perfect for me.

How exactly is this supposed to work? I've got this setup on my X-52 now, but the profile seems to be always on regardless of Hotkey being bound to my FAO button. I see no curve change when I toggle it on/off.

I think what he meant to say it will disable the curve once you toggle flight assist off. I don't think you could use a secondary file if that's what you think, but I could be wrong Marshall will correct me if I am wrong.

Had forgotten about this post, mean't to change it, sorry. That doesn't work yet, but:

Same.

Quick update on J-Curves, accepting I may be the only one who hadn't figured this out. You can create two profiles for one stick, so A) for faoff (customised curves) and b) for default curves. Give each profile a different Hotkey and you can switch between the two. I've asked the author if there's a way for to use one Hotkey as a toggle between two profiles.

It's a slight nuisance, but I've setup Voice attack to go back into faon.

does :) You'll need two hotkeys, one for each setup.

Like I said before you want to brake the ice in Eravate, I know they are a bunch of newbies and that is mess up, well I am not asking to kill them is just practice once they start running just let them be. They will let you know when they are done, just get a bounty and they will bring the fight to you at the nav beacon, also great practice since the cops will open fire as well.

What about Jesse or lancer setting up a private group, so people who want to practice pvp or try a new load out can go, us new to FAO could record the footage from both sides to compare tactics and mistakes. Also rules could be set up, like first one to take the others shields is the winner, for those who don't want to payout insurance (even though it wouldn't benefit them, as people seem to fight harder if they're going to lose something). Anyway just a thought :)

Welcome to our club Cmdr, I am glad you like our thread and videos we just like sharing our knowledge and tactics, hopefully you would the same. That being said, I have an FDL as well and I do like to fight the Code is like one my main missions, so you could only guess that I will welcome your presence if you want to terrorize Leesti with me. I know the guys would like to come over help me take out the trash, we just got to make time myself included. Once again welcome, anyways, I see you like using a stealthy sidey but have you tried the scout they are deadly in that regards, I am still learning how to properly employ one but I am getting there.

Thanks guys for the welcome :)
It would be great to join you around Leesti. I am amused by the fact that i am not the only one that feels antagonised to CODE :p
Regarding times would be nice to plan some time frame because I live in Sweden and I am guessing you are from the US, but shouldn´t be to hard though.

About he stealth approach, i experimented with the sidey to give the ship a chance since i really like it. But its too weak and easely out maneuver to use reliably in PVP. I havent tried the DB scout my self, i should try it some time.
I have been using stealth mechanics since beta and after watching your videos ( pretty nice ones i must say) there are some few tips i can share with you if you are interested ;).

About the new curves setups with this program, is it really worth it? Do you feel a big change for good?
What program are you guys using for recording? Is it the same you are using for editing, the Filmora one? Would be nice to venture this new world of video recording to share some of my experiences with you guys :p

Ps: that name for the group is very classy and original! ME like it!

Welcome Scipio :)
Speaking for myself being heavy handed, i only got my X52 about a month ago with FA on i wouldn't need Jcurves, but with FA off the sensitivity seems to multiply and with Jcurve i can tone it down. It can be a pain to get it how you want it.
As for recording i'm using Nvidia's Shadow play on a GTX 970 and Filmora to edit.

Scipio's post raises a good point, might be good if we get our timezones listed to help meet ups. I'm UK and play most evenings.

The way Jesse puts the evarate idea, it doesn't sound too bad, let them start it, send them home with a repair bill no need to kill vindictively. They learn, you learn everyone wins.

I have been to Eravate several times.
You'll prolly only get interdicted by some complete noob in a sidey and the cuteness will rekt you :D

Here's one defending his Empire space:

Heya Scipio.

Jcurves is an excellent piece of software, the Youtube I put up “I Own You” was the first time I’d used Jcurves, you can tell the difference between that and the rest of my vids :D

The free recorder for AMD is…Raptr? You can also use OBS to record your screen. If you’re just getting started go for the easiest to get and use just to get started…it’s as addictive as faoff, and I have to restrain myself form posting sooo much tat, just because I can lol.

Filmora’s good..imo it’s the best beginner’s editor I’ve ever seen; you'll be editing and what not in no time. I also think it’s cheap, I chose the one-year sub for £12 I’ve already got my money’s worth out of it. You also got Movie Maker in Windows, which isn’t actually that bad I just don’t get on with the interface.
Get those vids up!

It’s not a bad idea, how much is an A-Grade Conda these days?

Same here UK, the time i play depends on the wife and kids

You should take your T9 dude, boy would that give them a shock ;)

Imo there isn't much at Eravate.

I think it's better training if we practice on each other.
Then move onto group training.

We can pvp outside a station until 50% hull or shields down and just go repair and rearm with ease.

My Cmdr name is in my sig.
If I'm in open then it means I can usualy drop what I'm doing (except maybe Friday nights), so give me a shout and we can have a few rounds for practice.

+1 from me

Thanks Jesse and good vid, it's one of those annoying things where in theory I know what I want to achieve but in the heat of the moment it doesn't quite pull off. Still it'll come with practice

I think I've been playing the game a bit too much recently and need to just go do some flying for the sake of it, those vids everyone has been posting look fun, think I'll go try some station flying.
I know exactly what you are talking about that adrenaline is good for you.

I don't have a problem with that, if you guys feel more comfortable practicing against myself, please let me know.

Thanks for the J curve setting that is working as intended, It was very accurate and responsive, that I am ready for fixed weapons training. I finally have the missing link😀

So does it affect for the accuracy with fixed weapons? Because that is the only reason i would give it a try, since other wise i don´t feel i need any change with my joystick. I find difficult to aim with fix weapons during FAO.
