you are in the best position to find out.
Keep your nose pointing in that direction
set route to another system, and see how it compares with B23-2
then try another, etc.
If you can't target it then you were right and they are far away
can you see that cluster of bright star near the Rosette Nebula?
I can see it from cockpit from several system but can't find it on gal map.
Are they immersed between thousands of less bright stars?
Any hint how to get there?
Hey Akira, I just took a look at it in galmap, there appears to be a nice open cluster just trailing, and rimward of the rosette, turn off everything but A and O type stars and search for HD 258691, I believe that is the cluster you are looking for.
But his thread brings up a missing interface in the game: we really need a celestial sphere interface from the cockpit so you can pick interesting things in the distance and actually map a route to them on your nav computer.
You can use guide posts like the Magellanic Clouds, the Andromeda Galaxy, or any of the nearby nebulae or dust clouds. All of these landmarks also appear in a similar way on the Galactic Map.

+1 to ziljan. I would see it as an external device to set on a ship, called a 'telescope' Gives us a chance to zoom, and it giving the name/distance of what's targeted. Wouldn't that be lovely?
If you are looking for some interesting stuff near rosetta ;
There is an enormous white dwarf/neutron field at the buttom and the top of the galaxy relative to rosetta, there even is a twin earthlike there somewhere (claimed by me, but still awesome to look at) will earn you ALOT of credits if you decide to scan 'em all.
Oh my, already left. I don't mind scanning already tagged objects, would have loved to visit your double ELW system. I don't care for credits but a white dwarf/neutron star field would have been interesting.
But now I'm 1000Ly north the perseus arm.
Well, another thing to add to the to do list, i don't mind going back to place either, have been to Seagull 4 times already.
