Fast Ranking

I've spammed charity at Tun for a few more hours today, and finally got Ensign. Charity missions are like double or tripple more rare than yesterday.

I was hoping to do the same for some Emp rankings, but looks like it will be not so smooth from now on.
I am thinking to grind Empire ranks with bounties with my new FAS instead. I am doing heavy trading in my Type 9 in Imperial space, but looks pure trading just doesn't do much for rankings...

It's a crying shame that this is the route to Rank...

There should be story missions for the rankings... Crying out for it... and it's not like there are no authors writing Elite fiction or a mission board system.

.. and all the muppet's grind out charity missions instead of asking for a better game. for shame....

I don't think calling people muppet's is very helpful. We have to use the system we are given and people have been calling out for improvements to missions and ranking for ages. All to no avail.

I knew it would happen, glad I spend 35 hours finally reaching highest rank with empire before 1.4 come out. I hope Frontier will give Empire rank gender specific names in the future, that would be awesome.

NICE FRONTIER!

IF THAT IS TRUE VERY THANK YOU FOR NERFING THIS!

NOW THIS BORING GRIND STUFF IS EVEN MORE BORING VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR THIS!

Pls finally understand that making your game more grindy is NO Gaming fun!:mad::mad:

Now iam sitting 4x longer on stations waiting to get my jobs, that is soooo entertaining. THANKS!

Just before I ranked up to Baron, I found that trying to get charity missions all the time is the boring way. It becomes more interesting when you mix it up with other missions. It's the sitting there all the time that is boring.

You are accusing FD of making the game boring by making you fly the ship and do things with it rather than just continually donating cash and exiting/entering the game.

Can you the ridiculous nature if your statement?

All these missions are boring and repetative. It does not matter if i do 500 Charity Missions, Transport Mission, Kill Missions, Get us This YXZ Missions etc etc etc

Good think on this was, it was proofen that it works i wasted ages to increase my rank with other missions.

I had such a hard time to get ensing before i got this guide. Iam vice admiral now with the help of this. Now iam forced to spend 4x more time on this or i go back to random missions where i had no succes with.

Please tell me this was meant to be sarcastic and not serious.

So, I'm not understanding some things about missions.

I'm doing missions for Empire allied factions, but they are having me kill targets associated with other Empire allied factions, getting a drop in Empire rep. I understand rank and rep are different, but...I'm not exactly sure how killing Imperial citizens for the Empire is really the best way of getting a higher rank in the Empire...

Nah, he's got a point. Seems FD have removed the most efficient way to cope with a very grindy aspect of the game.

All this logging in and out may not sound very exciting, but it's an series of action that becomes automatic and easy to execute while watching tv. I have heard rank progression measured according to how many series of the Walking Dead it takes, and that's how it goes.

You may not like it, but then I don't much like hunting for hours for an assassination target that never appears due to a bug. That's the true grind.

so now that charity missions seem to have been made a lot more rare in places like Tun, what's the next best way to grind out ranks preferably in a single human life span?

The charity missions had high rep and low influence, and I noticed that timed delivery missions (deliver this to a station in a very short time) also had high rep and low influence.

You can still do the charity missions, even they are now more rare. It is still better then everythink else.

you are correct, upon a couple more reloads the board seems to give me about 1-3 charity missions reliably compared to version 1.3 which gave like 4-6 charity missions a reload.
still doable just a little slower, Fed Assault ship here i come c:

I don't mind that we have to do missions for rep, but they have to do something on the % of mission, for example, for charity donation, we get 3% of rep advancing, and for mission that takes an half hour or more we have to get 10% rep advancing and so on.. the % have to be based on the duration of the mission itself. and please give us something that we can see howfar we are in the rep advancing, like a reputation % bar or something

Hey guys, I found a decent way of gaining ranks! Ignore everything but the cash rewards. The more cash you get from a mission the more experience you seem to gain as well. Find a system that gives a lot of smuggling missions, as they seem to pay the most.

I am in an Asp, with ranks Competent, Broker, and some low explorer rank I can't remember just now. Anyways... In a system with 3 Empire factions (or whatever they're called) that I am allied to, I get smuggling missions that pay up to around 600k. Sometimes I'll grab two that pay 200k and go to the same system. I don't bother with less than 200k, preferably I want more than 300k as a combined reward for a single trip. I also grab any low paying transport missions to the same stations. I am now Lord, and I expect to reach Baron tomorrow in a few hours.

The grind isn't that bad, since I'm making so much money. In fact I don't even want to upgrade my ship that badly anymore, since I'm making a ton of money just doing these missions.

Smuggling is no problem. I usually just boost towards the station opening, and activate silent running. If anybody scans you, just pop a chaff - not right away, but let them scan you for a moment first, that way you'll have a better and longer effect of the chaff (Edit: or rather the longer you can postpone the scan completing). Found this one out myself too. :)

EDIT: I did it! Two and a half hours from Lord to Baron. I didn't fly very effectively either. Here's what I did:

About 30 charity missions that happened to pop up.
Smuggling runs worth around 7 million credits.

Pretty quick if you ask me, especially considering the money I racked up in this short time.
