Fast track tickets/queues

I really hope this is still a thing they're considering, RCTW missed the boat with this (or queue, i guess), It's a cool feature not just for ascetics purposes, but it does add an extra dimension to your parks financials and management.

If you think about it, guests should really be thinking whether or not its worth paying. If you have an empty park, they should be like "hmmm not worth paying extra for lanes", but should be seriously considering buying passes like that when they're stood, expressing themselves in a queue.

Big +1, who would buy a Fast Track pass for an empty queue? It would seriously add a whole new dimension to these sorts of games.

It really does. If you think about it, new places that open, new business, no reputation, you're not going to consider buying those sorts of things, unless

1) you'e been before
2) recommendation from visitors
3) advertising spots
4) social media.

I know it's a tiny little thing like a fast lane, visually, but it opens a huge amount of features to explore, campaign tasks (100 monthly fast tracks, 1st fast track purchase from excellent social media reviews)

Also it can be challenging to manage, which I want. What sort of percentage of passes can be sold as Fast Track >50% guests are not happy, because being Fast Tracks, isn't as fast as it used to be, you've oversold, so you'd end up with refunds etc.

Hm, Dev Diary 3 was more focused on telling stories within the game wasn't it? Or am I mistaking that for Dev Diary 2. Either way, hopefully Coasters is coming up soon with it's own Dev Diary so maybe the placing and/or theming of Rides and Queues will be a part of that [yesnod]
In Dev Dairy 3 you say the theming in the queues. [yesnod]

Adding to this.

We should have the option to either add the queue to a specific section of the queue, or add it straight to the station, As some parks do both.

Kings Island does straight to station.

Cedar Point does the middle of the queue thing.

Yees!! I want this too!! It's a reasonable way to win more money on our parks. But should be great to meake it like a challenge.

BUT,

Only if your attractions are satisfaing your peeps and your park rate is acceptable, fast premium queue lines could work properly and get us more revenues!

Every major theme park now employs this service and it makes sense. It's a little extra money for the players as well. Please consider adding this.

Someone (BozzleBox) wrote a post about an interesting suggestion in the "Coaster Head Discussions" sub-forum, and I think this has its place here :

This is an idea I've just been dying to share. To that extent I thought I'd post it here to see what you think. It may also have already been thought of, so apologys in advance [yesnod]

Planet Coaster seems to be really big on modular building and allowing the integration of rides and shops into there environments. What I propose is that instead of just rides being placed to add to an area, a group of rides or 'pre-shows' could be linked together to create an attraction experience. This happens all the time in real life park such as Disney's haunted mansion, the tower of terror and so on.

I believe the addition of this feature would add an extra layer to the management of your park and further the realism. Say for example you have a roller coaster that has massive queue times. Instead of adding more queue line you could add two parallel pre-shows, which could all be themed, and would buffer the queue allowing more guests to wait for the ride. This could also be a way to stop your guests becoming aggravated by waiting in long queues and add to the other-all appeal of the ride.

The way I envision this working would be quite simple, you take any two rides or pre-shows and add a connector path between them. This invisible connector path would direct quests to each ride element. Splits in the path would cause guests to chose a direction to take, pre-show 1 or pre-show 2, or a queue manager (staff) could be placed in a 'split' booth to mange the flow of guests and aid in decreasing the queue time.

It could even be an entire feature called "Ride Experience" or "Pre-Shows" that would open a HUD with tools to select a ride and designate the queue lines and shows for the ride which would be connected via the connector path. You could also have the ability to lengthen or shorten the pre-shows to either slow or increase the guest through put. Each element could increase the running cost of the ride as a way of integrating it into the management system. You could also use the system to allow multiple stations on a roller coaster by using the split queues. I've tried to outline the idea in a graphic bellow.

I would really love to see this in Planet Coaster and hope some one from the Dev team sees this.

Hope everyone thinks this is a good idea and if you have any questions, please ask! [happy]

This way, everyone can enjoy (and debate)

to be specific about what i like/don't like about all discussions re queues:
* i don't the unrealistic 'one path to a ride' space-wasting paths of RCT3
* i don't like that shortening/lengthening a ride queue requires reconstruction
* i do like the idea of fastpass / vip queues
* i REALLY like the idea of multiple loading/unloading stations for a ride, with joining / splitting queues appropriately
* i REALLY like the idea that queues lengths are automatically adjusted by ride staff, like they are in real life, with chains/gates

Yeah that would be sweet :D Especially if there's a big rush when you open a new ride. Would mean you would actually have to plan your queues instead of just plopping them down.

Also it would be great if guests queued up outside a ride when the queues full and start blocking the paths! Also I hope they don't empty the queue when a ride breaks because that rarly happens in real life. I would like the guests to stay and wait. The longer the wait the more likely they would be to leave the queue :D

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to sell the guests drinks or food in line? I have seen this in a couple of parks on popular rides.

brett doubts the sincerity of our "+1's" so i'll be specific. I don't like it in rct when the queues empty when a ride breaks.
i would really like it if they would drift away slowly, and more likely from the tail than the head of the queue.
i like the idea of selling products while queuing.
i really like the idea of the queue spilling over into the regular paths, and then staff adjust gates/chains to pull the queue forward and so clear the path.

I love the fast pass idea and would also love to see single rider line. I would like to see pre show options and the various station options for how your guests go to the rows (let them choose or have attendant assign them a row). I think for the A.I. some guests could spawn with the ability to use fast pass and others (perhaps the majority to keep fast pass, well, fast) could spawn with the ability to only use single rider or standby. It's an important element to theme parks and I think the demand is high enough that it will be added in time (along with single rider and pre shows - those are important too).

This would be awesome to see in the game. I think they might be considering it because I noticed that employees were standing next to the queue lines in the game. Maybe this will foreshadow that the employees will check fast lane wristbands or tickets? I hope we could sell fast pass wristbands in our parks to increase revenue. I also hope for a single rider option or maybe the guest who want to ride single rider could enter through the exit line.

I like the idea of guests drifting away if the ride breaks too. Another idea: depending on the types of "break downs" if it is a longer thing to fix then then staff could force the queue closed, whereas if it is something quick to fix they can stay and wait it out and slowly leave. I don't know about the longer break downs though... that would not be fun to have a ride closed for a long time. Just an idea!

I personally don't like the idea of selling items in the queue, if it was an optional thing that would be cool though!

I REALLY like the ability for staff to adjust chains/queue length too and allow the queue to overflow to the regular path and let the line wrap around in real life. (compared to how guests would simply not get in line if the queue was already filled in RCT1-3)
