Faster-Than-Light Tech (For DW or FD)

Okay, so I've got a question that hopefully either Drew Wagar or anyone from Frontier could answer, relating to FTL technology.

So I'm aware of how the hyperdrive works and the implications of using the FSD. It's kinda like the ships frame is in a different place in space-time, which would explain how it's able to cover multiple lightyears in seconds. But what about data?

How does data get sent from station to station, ship to ship and ship to station? I'm curious as to how this is apparent within the Lore of the game so I can test some theories.

I seem to recall there was an experiment that proved certain paired particles were linked. When one was made to vibrate the 'twin' would vibrate in sympathy, with no apparent loss of strength as they were moved further apart. I could be wrong though.

That is correct. It is called quantum entanglement (details here), but the simpler solution is we (The CMDR's) carry data between stations. When we dock our on board systems update with all the local news and happenings and download the info from other stations.

We are the Pony Express.

But what about things like distress beacons? I'm asking because if those types of data do not travel faster than light we have to assume that some of the ships in the Formidine logs are within a certain radius and that we might receive a certain distress call if we hang about.
