FD remove thermal cascade cannons and rebate me the millions in repairs. This is not good!

Well if they stick around in a fight they are not going to win who's fault is?

You are aware that a wing of 4 gankers with FSD reboot missiles and other tools, along with failures due to fried circuitry can result in you having ZERO chance of escape, right?

Besides this, 40 million rebuy ships can only mean one thing.

its either a Cutter or Corvette. With no heatsinks.. The pilot in question is totally depending on shield tanking, and THAT is a HUGE mistake. This was possible pre 2.1, but now, you are crazy not having atleast 1 heat sink, and a point defence utility.

Downplaying this with sound logic doesn't detract from the fact the game has a very problematic weapon that is not working as intended.

The bottom line here is that it really should be instantly removed until it is certified as being fixed and working as intended.

I think ied would be sad if they lost their heat cannons. Pk too.
You mean DSA/SOI. IED has just started testing them out a week or so ago and only a few of us have decided to use them if we go against the DSA or SOI.- - - Updated - - -
Just because you're running a hot build with fragile internals and not carrying any heatsinks doesn't mean the effect is broken. And yes, I've been on the receiving end of them. Many times. Single ships, multiple ships, few hardpoints, many hardpoints. There are setups that do well against them and setups that do poorly against them, just like with anything else.
They are broken and FD has acknowledged that. And here's a bug report I've opened a few months back on the matter. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/346993-Heat-Cannon-Cheat-Exploit-Bug

No, the bottom line here is that just shouting FIX IT doesn't instantly produce a change to the game.

Probably because there is a lot more going on. They need proof. Also, a video tells them where/when/why/how/situation. And with this, they can check the backlog as well. They can see who they fighting and why, because there might be a connection.. A bug isn't simply "ram, bam, code, bom, and done" Fix that, break that and that, is more how coding works. They are working on it, they aint liars, but its a pain fo sure yo, i agree.
I have sent FD video proof twice. My bug report has been opened over 2 months on the matter and other bug reports as well with more video proof. They have every single bit of proof they need and this should have been fixed when 2.3 went live.

Fear not people for I have someone who will end heat right here all he needs is 10 seconds with or without a head, for he is The Cooler!

Yeah, it should be fixed. But as dusty said this clearly shows a lack of preparation, 2 heatsinks are enough to keep the heat manageable until high wake I've been ganked by these kind of weapons so the voice of experience talking to ya. No excuse; also yeah for once Ezren is right :p

I'm very aware of how to increase survivability to these myself, but this doesn't change the fact we tolerate a broken weapon being in the game for months and that some people are not as experienced in this. Let's not forget what I said about wings of gankers, who can kill engine boost, have torpedoes which ECM's don't fully protect you against anymore and can stop you from high waking.

The point is, that this thread serves to add to the voice asking FD to do something about this as quickly as possible, which preferably would be to remove heat weapons from the game until they work as intended.

I said in my first post that this is a nuisance to tackle. I didn't say it could not be tackled.

Are those heat weapons limited to real players or does the ai have them too? I have never encountered them before. I play solo (go ahead, hang me) so thats why i ask.

It's nothing to worry about if you play in solo. You won't see thermal cannons on an NPC.

That's certainly true now, but the NPC were much more deadly in the 2.1 betas. If some have their way, all the Engineering upgrades will be available to NPCs again.

I must admit a return of the PA multi-cannon would be glorious.

Sadly all we'll get are "glitchy" RNGineers upgrades which serve the sole purpose of trying to keep the "Dangerous" word in the game title.

Minus the bugs (inc. thermal cannons and insta-kill PAs) I would like to see an ULTRAHAZRES added to the game that contains NPCs with engineered weapons. NPCs are currently too easy to kill, with or without an engineered ship.

CMDRs can then choose to jump in to the ULTRAHAZRES and fight at their own risk.

Well that's whas HAZRES was supposed to be; the dangerous RES site. You can still get into some trouble against wings of enemy ships, but only if you're solo.

There's nothing in the game to really challenge Wings or Multi-Crew ships.
