FDev, can I get a refund on a paint job?

Yesterday I bought a paint job that looked nice in the tiny icon I'm presented in the Frontier Store interface. As soon as I applied it to my ship, I hated it. I never would have bought it if we had a proper "preview" option to see what a paint job looks like in "real light".

So is there a mechanism to return an unwanted paint job and get those Frontier Points back? I'll happily spend those points elsewhere in the Frontier Store.

Oh, and can we have a proper "preview" feature added to store? After all, I can try on clothes at my local department store before purchasing them IRL.

You can easily zoom in to make the image's much bigger, I think it's L1 but it tells you at the bottom of the store page.
I did this before I bought the paint jobs for my AspX, Vulture and Dolphin. I am playing on a 32" TV and when zoomed in it easily fills 80% of the screen in full detail.

You can also use something like YouTube to see what the paint jobs look like. Many people have made videos of the add-ons.

Zooming in doesn't help, because it's still the ship at one angle with unrealistic lighting. The paint job in question turned my ship into an 8-bit cartoon, which is NOT what I was expecting based on the provided image.

And are you really suggesting that Youtube is a suitable substitute for an in-game preview, something that every other game with cosmetic purchases (that I play) offers? Hopefully FDev has more sense than that, otherwise they'll have less "cents" from me.

FDev could add another aspect to the game, a grind of course but well worth the 300 cr's you get. Upon receiving a ticket for paint refund, they issue one a scrapper. Now having to scape paint as anyone who's ever been in the U.S. Navy is a lot of fun (hehehe). Considering the size of a ship like even a python would take years, doing it yourself. OH, but wait a minute, they could incorporate deck hands to assit. I mean one can hire a combat crew, why not some deck hands to assit in scraping paint. OH, by the way, how you gonna put it back into liquid form inside ALL those empty cans you'll need to buy from the FDev store. At a cost of 300 per 100 cans. Hey ships are big, lots of paint needed.

Seriously, because of the money being split between Fdev and Sony. And the multiple steps one has to do in order to pay. And I'm sure some where there's a disclaimer stating all sales final. I believe, the answer is gonna be, HA HA HA, your kidding right!

I wouldnt mind a screenshot if poss, it might be a grower, or consider it a retro homage to the olden days of the original

Try contacting them? If you haven't had it long seems reasonable to refund you the points (not that the next preview image will be any better...)

You spent, you commit, you swallow it!
... That's life right there, deal with it...

PS: IF they refund you i want one too for several paints i bought and didnt rly like it... They NEED to improve their store customer interactions ASAP imo!

I reckon if we could preview all the various paint jobs and ship kits directly from inside outfitting FD would make a lot more money...

Some of them are a little cheeky, for example the military pack I've got for the Python has an olive paint which is the same as the Python default colour...

Would be nice to have the option of just buying one colour for 100pts.

Just out of curiosity, which paint job was it, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't remember the name, but it looked like an "Iron Man" paint job for the Vulture. However, when applied to my Vulture, it turned it into a weird 8-bit Commodore 64 looking thing, no texture, shadow, reflection, nothing - just solid #FF0000 (with some yellow and white as well). Totally not Iron Man, unless you're talking about a Saturday morning cartoon...

this? It was a community designed/chosen paint job or something

Not many good ones for the vulture, all I would buy is the tactical paints

Did you try taking it out for a spin? Sometimes they don't look great while in the hangar but look sweet when you're out in the black...

Yep, that's it.. Thing is, all paint jobs look a little bit "cartoonish" from this top-down view that the store gives us, but usually in real game lighting they look like actual paint on actual metal, not a cartoon ship. I might as well name my Vulture Roger Rabbit using that paint job, because it looks like a cartoon in a world it doesn't belong.

Ultimately Frontier loses, because I'll not spend another real dime for Frontier Points if this is how it is.. Engineers might be a slot machine, but the Frontier Store shouldn't be.

Where do I go to fill out a "ticket" I keep hearing about? I'll give it a try, I just need a little direction. Thanks!

Smart people use all resources available to them.

That there paint job is just awful.

Most of the paint jobs are awful, looking at them objectively and asking yourself if you'd have any of them on your real life car if you could seems to work for me.

What this game needs is a bunch of colour sliders in the outfitting screen so you can alter the hue of the original single colour paint job, I'm not sure how FD would monetise that though.
