FDL- Buff needed.

NO NOT COMBAT!

Hi all,

I just want to request a bit of a rethink of the FDL internals. Its a great ship but it is somewhat lacking on internal space, especially now with planetary landings and the need for the vehicle hanger module. Then you have to factor in a collector limpet controller for quick material collection before they expire as well as the fuel scoop which you really can`t leave the station without and that`s not even mentioning a discovery scanner of any kind as you might as well collect some exploration data while doing all those jumps. The internals can be small in class size if FD think stuffing in shield cell banks is an issue. It will not upset the balance of the game, its just with these new activities and missions developing in game that the FDL seems to becoming a bit more limited. Its just a small bit of extra flexibility that is needed and I am not looking for any improvement in combat ability as the FDL is fine on that front or even extra cargo space to any big degree as we all accept that the FDL will be limited on that front also. So FD give it some consideration.

Thanks.

I agree with OP. I really wish it had even just one more class 1 or even if they upsized the existing fuel space to a 16. It's the only ship you have to leave the RES to refuel before you run out of ammo if you decide to jump 10ly or more.

The FdL is a very specialised ship, it's not designed to be able to do everything at once. It's mostly fine as is (and yes, I fly one).

Agree 100% with that but the the thing is the game is evolving and game play along with that, thats why a little more flexiblity may be needed as the game is not as straight forward as it once was, and thats a good thing in my book and great to see.

Give us a break about ur desired invincibility on board that FDL..nerf it buff it nerf it buff it...! What a song since he rolled out the Hangar. :)

There does seem to be an ever increasing need for internals as the game goes on. I foresee this becoming more and more problematic as new features are added. More so for combat ships. I think some features should be built into the ship, like the basic discovery scanner. Sure you can go to a nav beacon to scan for missions or mission updates, but how much of a chore is that compared to built-in scanner.

You realize that changing the internals changes the combat capabilities of the ship right??????????

So what OP is asking for is for the FDL to be made into a python? Why not just get a python if the FDL is not to your taste?

check out the quote above. if ship transport is coming at some point, the solution is easy. get as many ships as you need, and have them transported where you need them at. and if you always want to do all at the same time, get a cobra/courier/python/anaconda/... - that is called multipurpose.

No sorry, I said a small bit of extra flexibility, maybe an extra class 1 and 2 slot, you know well the python is well beyond that. I emphasized "small" for a reason because of exactly this type of reaction.

With all the tasks and needs you listed, it sounds like you should be flying a different ship.

Well I have most of them and money is not an issue, I just thought it would make it a bit more versatile but there`s no harm in having a discussion about it.

Thanks for the link, that will be a godsend. That would also circumvent the long travel time of combat ships to engineers too. As long as you don't have to wait hrs in real life waiting for your transport to arrive.

To cover the bases I have both an FdL and a Python. I take out what I need for what I'm up to. The Python can easily defend itself while running missions, and the FdL if for hunting. I like the specialization of the FdL. I found that the FAS was pretty well suited for an all-'rounder. Let's not try to make one ship everything. Just take the time to find the ship that suits your needs as they stand. You can always switch to another.

Its understandable when you want more versatility, alltough thats what the multiroleships are there for.

Again agree 100%, I have most of the ships from the corvette and cutter down and its just that that extra class 2 or 1 slot would be handy to have for the small things rather then a full multi-role capacity which we all know the python and anaconda excel at.
