Feature Focus: Ranger Functions

Well I can certainly say this, after this feature I wanted the most since the very launch day is coming in, combined with a JP theme, can't get any better. Previously I was just short of being absolutely sure I was done with the game now.

I assumed the raptors were not even going to attack the vehicles, only dinosaurs large enough to destroy it...I mean I would pretty much expect both that and the fact that rides like the tour truck cannot be attacked.

I think they mentioned in the stream that it was sandbox and the vehicle attacks were turned off. That's why the raptors didn't attack. I think. As for the tour vehicles someone confirmed that they can be destroyed as well. Hmmm. Anyways.

The only thing i keep thinking about is if we're in sandbox / challenge mode and using the JP era setting, can we still create all 68 species? Including all the gene modifications. Because i think buildings aside i kinda get why we can't mix them together. But it would be a disappointment if in sandbox or challenge mode and use the JP era we can only just use JP dinosaurs as well. Can anyone confirm or debunk this? Haven't been up to date on all the news.

if you could adjust if carnivores or herbivores can attack the vehicles it would be a cool thing. You could go on a safari tour through a fence with herbivores without worry without fear that a triceratops destroyed the vehicles, but should be careful with carnivores.

Nice idea. They did mention each dinosaur is gonna have different tolerance on how near a vehicle can approach them. Maybe then can be adjusted in the gene modification page same like comfort threshold. Hehe would be cool

They was in Sandbox and propablly they had turn off all dino agression. Thats all. And also, Steggs isn't developer, he is community mannager and he is struggling with game very offten. No offence Steggs ;)!

i get it in sandbox since you can basically turn off anything and everything

but back when it was released I wished this was the true meat of the game and they would make it even more in depth, even though just now they have the vehicle destruction coming. eh, I guess the way I saw it, barreling through a thunderstorm cause something has gone terribly wrong and now a mad dino is after you, with a side of light park managment seemed like the true JP experience.

Even like rangers being able to leave vehicles and have to run for their lives if they survive it getting demolished.

The reason why the game was limited back then during launch compared to what it is now is simply because of Universal's requirement of releasing the game as a tie-in alongside Fallen Kingdom. So alot of things were left out just so FD can make the deadline set by Universal.

And you know this for a fact or you're speculating?

I'd say that it is true they were crunched for time because they were actually forced to release around the same time as FK(I've heard it mentioned a LOT, though validity is still up for grabs), likely for publicity, but I don't know how much was actually left out because of this. It could have been a lot, could have been very little, as they might have been expecting to send it out little later, and continue with the schedule they have now, or wait another year, maybe 2. So, they're really just speculating.

idk about beta at best....it just could have been better and the rushing to coincide with fallen kingdom was surely part of that.

plus remember that nowadays that any game that is a sure thing for lots of DLCs in the future, companies are going to hold back on whats included during launch. thats just part of the business now.

anyways in case anyone wondering confirmed brachi, dilo, and trike have attacked my vehicle. the dilos mostly run away tho and I had to park right in front of brachi to let him walk into it lol. the trikes are pretty mean tho.

Yeah. I've been testing the ranger mechanic too. Even if you stand still, the Stegoceratops will attack after a short while. The Indominus is a One Hit Kill. There seems to be some variety to the way the large carnivores attack. The Indominus and Spino just run towards and ram it. The Rex approaches it, stops right next to it and only then rams it.

They get wrecked with the vehicle anyway. Without a way to rescue people from inside the enclosures, there's really no necessity for the rangers themselves to "get killed" or leave the vehicle and run away after it gets wrecked. And I forgot to mention, the AI does seem to be useless now. It can use the flares but the amount ot time it just stands there between tasks nullifies it's usefulness. And the wrecked vehicle just disappears after you replace it at the Station. IT would be better if you had to remove it.

There’s no way to turn of dinosaur aggression in campaigns? Right now my rangers get attacked so often I’m tired of sending them in to refill feeders or medicate the dinosaurs and just let the dinosaurs starve to death or sicken to death! It’s so annoying - if the dinosaurs wanna attack then they probably don’t need that feed or medication all that much, and death comes to all sooner or later. I actually cheered when one dinosaur who kept attacking my ranger starved to death!
