Federal Assault ship vs Python

Seems pretty average to me tbh (I'm fine with this) - not bad but not awesome either. Maybe because I'm flying a Vulture a lot but I wouldn't fear one in a Vulture even though it's faster.

It is very fast yes, easily over 400 m/s any build.

FAS < Python
FGS too :/

Actually, top tier battle ship are :
Vulture Combat, Python MR, Anaconda MR

If they change SCB (Allow only one per ship or something like that) python still > FAS or FGS because the have the same crappy shield as FDS

FAS < Python
FGS too :/

They are also (probably) considerably cheaper, than the Python, so they are not really meant to challenge the Python. The Corvette will probably (hopefully) be a threat for a Python, though.

Even though I agree, that they should get like 50% stronger shields, at least the gunship will be able to defeat any ship below the Python, including the Clipper.

What about the Federal Assault Ship? Will it have a chance against Clippers and FDLs?

I'm only making assumptions based on the technical data. Even with the gunship it will be a close call, but after playing around a bit with the shipyard-tool I'm positive it's possible. Will give it a try, once 1.4 is released.

The Assault ship otoh... I don't think so. Its shields are ridicilously weak for such a large ship. Will probably ignore this ship entirely.

Technically the FDS is a dedicated combat ship. Strip out the cargo carriers and the Python can be a dedicated combat ship.

If the FAS has considerably lower mass and the same thrusters then it'll make sense.

Would somebody with access to the Beta server check this please?

Dont make me laugh . Ill be ripping threw those FAS and FGs in no time. There nice for the price. But can you say glass tanks..

One word for you.. Endurance...
Endurance is key.

Long live the Mighty Python

Nice for price ???
FDL > F"X"S

And F"X"S need to spend a quite long time to reach rank to use it :/

With 50% more shield, they will be nice for they're price. Now they are juste useless (Compare to actual ship who don't need rank to access -- Same thing for clipper)

I disagree, I think there is a big potential for these ships, their armor is their strength and with new changes that could be really useful. It'll be expensive to repair but mirrored bulkheads and hull reinforcements against an energy build is going to be a bear to handle for any ship, even military composites will make the ship last a long time. I wonder if anyone has tried a stealth build on one yet. I see a lot of potential, but it is different from the current meta and I think that is a good thing. I am glad there are so many varying opinions, to me that means it is probably in a pretty good place.

DBScout players are going to love it tho.

Yeah, I can see it as a bigger, harder hitting alternative for people who want to run the DBS stealth style against larger prey, quick and maneuverable, but with oodles more armor and bigger guns. Plenty of room for heat sinks too.

FYI people are going to be using a lot more kinetic weapons now. Rail guns are looking very good in comparison to other weapons with their penetration Mirrored would be a no no now.

also looks like a really good mission-ship, if you are fiddling around with the bgs. enough cargo for any missions even in a very combat oriented build, which will allow you going into cz too, fast speed for manouvering/docking, can land on outposts, has an okay jumprange ---

If running away is your preferred PvP tactic than yes, it's great for PvP.

The Cobra is even better, though.

pvp is about who wins and who see the insurance screen, if you can't loose, you can basically only win

and boosting away doesn't mean that you will jump, you can take a breath and come back :p

Edit: in a duel there is honor but in war only winning matters

Eh, we'll see, I don't think the majority of players will be using them, I don't think they can hit with them, even with the extreme penetration of rail guns their damage to a module will be reduced due to armor, and these ships have a lot of armor. You'd have to pick and choose your fights, you can of course run other bulkheads. The ship certainly has the speed to get out of a fight it doesn't want to be in. Stealth will always be a niche market anyway.

Maybe what I like most is that it appears to be a ship (time will tell) that has a ton of fight left when it's shields go down, and can do well using stealth in a situation like that to break target locks and use it's maneuverability to it's advantage. I can see it having a very high skill cap. My fear (always worse than it seems, I'll admit) is that because it is quick and has some good maneuverability people are going to cry "OP" to the point that it becomes a sitting duck, weak shields, okay top speed, but not able to whip around in time to get out of the way of rails, or last long enough to compete with the SCB chugging ships.
