Amen to that, brother. "Balancing" is the most idiotic thing in games. If you go through all that trouble to make all that money and purchase high-end stuff, it has to be high-end. Effortlessly obliterating everything entry-level on it's path.
"Hey, I'm in my Sidey and I can't hurt this Python! Nerf it, please!" You're damn right you can't hurt it. Go make hundreds and hundreds of millions, put an effort there, grind & bear it, and equip yourself right.
It's like "look, this Bentley and H2 are overpowered, let's bring them down to starters VW Polo". Devs, don't to it.
That's not the aim of balancing, and it is not, in my opinion, what FD are trying to do. Balancing us about making entities proportionate to their cost, and encouraging diversity by not having one class of entity better than all the others
at its level.
Think of it like WoW (and let's say vanilla). A level 60 character of any class should wipe the floor with a level 30 (in this case "cost" == XP). But if a level 60 hunter would easily kill a level 60 anything else, you're going to get a server full of level 60 hunters (obviously in WoW you can't change class so everyone else will probably be hunters too).
The Python should remain capable (if piloted competently) of trashing small, cheap ships. But it shouldn't be the only ship of choice for players with unlimited cash. That is the goal of balancing, and there's nothing idiotic about it.
Now, will FD's proposed nerfs
achieve that goal? I don't know. You don't know. FD probably don't know either, yet, but you're not going to get any better than their opinion until it's released (well, in beta most likely).
