I use my fighter bay when out in the black to combat space madness. Do canyon running and some recon. Id love to see a fighter that had no hard points and instead had scanners and super cruise ability.

Having an SLF explorer unit with unlimited range for scouting would be the bee's knees.
Probably help to rejuvenate telepresence, especially if you could get a ship that could handle several parasites.
I think it would actually encourage real manning of ships rather than telepresence. The real, and as far as I can tell the only reason for telepresence is that for 99% of gameplay only a single CMDR is required, scooping, jumping, SC'ing, mining, none of it requires or indeed can use more than one crew member. Imagine having a large ship, Conda sized, with usable interior, spacelegs and multiple SRV, SLF and/or SLE's that you can deploy to explore a large system. A group of like minded explorers could head off into the unknown and go exploring, now all we need is some sort of mutiny mechanic and we're set for lifeHuh, where's my pirate smiley when I need it?
Anyone one else read this and remember battlestar galactica.
I've often touted the concept of a shuttle bay. A multi purpose shuttle bay would house shuttles that could be fitted for exploration and are large enough to carry an SRV. They could also be used by large ships to ferry cargo between the ship and an outpost. There could be other vessels for scouting, scanning etc.
Personally, explorer limpets zooming off like imperial probe droids in Empire, backed up with taking a supercruising shuttle from your fighter bay would be a huge improvement exploration wise.
