Title says it all. I just want to make a back-up for my custom voice pack.
VoiceAttack’s Data Storage
VoiceAttack stores its data in a single file named, 'VoiceAttack.dat'. Each user on your PC willhave their own VoiceAttack.dat file that will be stored (usually) in"C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\VoiceAttack". If you want to back up yourVoiceAttack data in one big chunk, the VoiceAttack.dat file is the one you will want to save.Accessing this folder for the first time may be tricky, as Windows may have these foldershidden. What you will want to do (if you haven't already done so) is to have Windows showhidden files and folders: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/14201/windows-showhidden-filesAnother (probably quicker) way to browse this folder is by clicking on the linkprovided on the Options screen, under the, ‘System/Advanced’ tab labeled, ‘Click here tobrowse VoiceAttack’s data folder’.On a side note, and to clear up some confusion, VoiceAttack's data is NOT stored in .VAPfiles. .VAP files are the files that are created if you decide to export a single VoiceAttackprofile (to share or simply as a backup). You may have had to import a .VAP file at one timeor another. The information contained in the .VAP file that you imported is merged into yourVoiceAttack.dat file and saved
This is directly from the voice attack help pdf:
I bolded the pertinent text in the above paragraph.
The default location of the help pdf is: C:/Program Files (x86)/VoiceAttack/VoiceAttackHelp.pdf
So i guess for backup purposes you can export to a .vap file and store it where you like. To export a file click on the plus sign at the top of the main window.
One of the cool things about it is that when you export you can sort by category, handy if you have a long list of commands, as long as you remembered to categorize everything when you created the profile.

Those guys are super helpful, and there’s good ideas to read there as well.
