Community Event / Creation Fill The Glass - A Time Trial Race (12 - 22 August 3307)

First entry submitted! This is a truly lovely, totally-not-a-buckyball race of the kind I've been missing for years.

Entry is a bit crap, but it was such a fun kind of crap. :D

I think you are misunderstanding, using Supercruise Assist isn't cheating. When you target a station and fly the entire way to it using Supercruise Assist, it flies you at 75% throttle all the way to the station and then drops you out automatically.

The exploit involves not activating it until the last moment. So rather than flying at 75% for the whole duration, or flying at 100% until the destination timer reaches 0:06 seconds and then dropping to 75% and gradually slowing down. You're flying at 100% speed until the final moments and don't have to slow down at all.

Using SC Assist the whole journey will take the longest.
Using 100% then 75% throttle, is faster.
Using the exploit is far, far, faster.
Looking forward to seeing how people use that method, still haven't seen anyone doing it faster than the good old spiral approach.

New DBX time submitted (not a massive improvement but every second counts right?)

I've also completed my first Hauler test run (27:53). Quite a few things went wrong tho' so I'm holding off submitting that one as I think I can do a fair bit better if I get a chance later on today.

Oh, and here's some pink for @psykit!

There's been a change at the top of the Regulation Hauler!

Last year I entered with a stripped-down Python to carry as many goods as possible (198 tons) over the course. A one-ship party would never win, but that's not the point!

Today the BGS gods smiled and over 140 tons of beer are available for pickup along the route, but the Python can't compete in this event. So here's the next-best thing:

The 80 ton capacity Banana Daydreamin' is ready to fill this glass and the next!

Well just attempted a regulation run and I think I was being too enthusiastic. Hull reached 171% and then my cargo hatch exploded. Oh well.
