Finding Story POIs

Greetings all,

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I couldn't find a better place.

I recently found the missing Anaconda that was en-route to the Marlinist colonies thanks to the help of some commanders who had already found it. I had been searching systems around the Marlinist colonies but I don't I think I ever would have found it without help.

Is there some methodology to finding "story" POIs such as this ship, or guardian/thargoid stuff without looking on the interwebz or is it just the luck of the draw. Does reading lore help with this ?

I'm not trying to be the first one to discover anything though I would like to discover stuff like this "on my own".

Any insight you all have would be most appreciated.

There are ways for some stuff, but the game gives disappointingly little hints.
One is listening posts unregistered comms beacons, which give their clues (in morse, IIRC) at certain times, like ten-minute period every hour.

EDIT: remembered wrong, amended

yes, there is, but it is different between different elements of old stories.
  • some influde following listening posts
  • other include deciphering number station
  • some are lead to by local (in station) gal net
  • there are even elements following the spectograms of game audio

...

Ummm,no. Listening posts just need scanning, unregistered comms beacons transmit at regular intervals (normally every hour or so, not every 10 minutes).

Ofc you then have the problem of finding the LP/UCB :)

Best way of finding new things : keep an eye on the nav panel when flying - that's how most is spotted. Also watch out for clues in galnet etc.
