I don't have a problem with shield cells, they are getting balanced anyway. But I would like to see them restricted to one module per ship.

Shield Cell banks are nerfed in 1.1

The python still stands as a viable ship in 1.1 too. But before the nerf, it was just all around a too good of a ship for it's cost.

I fly a fully kitted out Python and I can totally understand the nerf. She is way overpowered compared to other ships. It would be different if she was the next fighter up from the viper but shes a trading scow! FD are just balancing her out in preparation for introducing other ships.

I really think FDEV messed up the shield strentgh and charge rate a bit. Right now pretty much the only way to recharge shields in any sensible time is to use shield cells. Larger ships don't seem to have good enough shields, on the whole, as they're much easier to hit with fixed weapons.

Without beta access I've no idea what they've actually done to SCB, but if it doesn't come with a shield charge/power buff I'll be disappointed. The shield charge rate is my main beef: it should drain the capacitor much faster.

Depends on your shield generator. If you put a D rated shield in your vessel it will recharge in no time, with an A rated it takes longer. I actually like this design, if you are a good pilot and manage to outmaneuver your enemy a D rated shield could be a benefit (due to less weight and faster recharge times). That way it's not all about money but about considering which outfit is best for your play style.

At the moment, 3 players in Vipers working together can take out a pre-nerf player Python. However, without teamwork, the Python could pick them off one by one. This is the way it should be, and suggests that the Python is not massively overpowered.

However, I will balance this by saying that the Python feels too agile. I've been testing one with mixed A and D modules. Dogfighting with Vipers when you're several times heavier with several times the firepower feels a bit wrong.

FD have over-nerfed the Python for 1.1 and hopefully they will review and rebalance.

hate to break it too ya but a good pilot in a viper could take down a kitted python alone

You cant mass-lock a Python in your Viper, so at best you can just scare it away. And people seem to forget the Viper got some pretty hefty 'nerfs' in 1.1, too. I wouldn't be too cocky if I were you... :)

Which is wrong IMO. Smaller ships, whether a dedicated fighter or not, should have to be at least in pairs to take down something like a kitted Python.

Imperial Clipper 7a shield gen: 197 Mj
Federal Dropship 6a Shield Gen: 146Mj
Python 6a Shielf Gen: 388Mj

An NPC Python for sure but having flown a fully kitted version of each I know there is no way a Viper jock could take me out in my Python. Not with shield-cells and my weapon loadout. My 3xC3 Beams cut through shield in seconds and 2xC2 MCs do the same to hulls.

Now obviously this only goes for standard configurations. A Viper can be equipped to take out anything quickly but no standard equiped viper could match a Python!

This. The Python can jump out in 5 seconds. The only way you're taking out a Python solo in a Viper is if over multiple fought (not submitted) interdictions. If somebody manages to run away then nobody really wins.

I wonder when we're going to get better disruptive mass mechanics. The "on" or "off" nature of it bugs me at the moment. Maybe in the case of Viper vs Python "off" is fine, but even in this case, a 2x penalty for a Viper within 1km would be better than what we have now.

this is actually false, there is pretty much a 1:1 ratio between shield strength and recharge time, if its 10% stronger, it takes 10% longer to recharge or to reinstate the shield once its dropped - recharge rates IMO are too slow across the board, you can recharge any shield with like 0.5 of a point in system they recharge that damn slowly

I have no problem with you suggesting recharge should be faster in general, but please don't say what I write is false unless you can prove me wrong instead of basically writing the same I said.

Well, you said a class D shield recharges faster. It does not. It gains the same strength per second (ie. recharges at the same rate), but just saturates quicker, so gains more of a fraction of its overall strength per second (not the same as recharging faster).

Looks like nitpicking to me. If I fill a 5l bucket and a 10l bucket with water, the 5l bucket will be filled faster. It's the same thing with shields, kind of tedious discussing this.

150CR Fine in Alliance

Help!

Got a fine for accidentally catching my finger on the fire button in a no fire zone of 150CR, but I cant pay the fine anywhere at all! The logging out and back in again trick doesn't work for me like it has for others with fines... so I'm too scared to go anywhere in case the fine escalates and I end up getting blown to bits by the over zealous space traffic cops...

Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do?

Also have a claim for 4,594 bounty in Neganhot ltd, that I cant claim anywhere....

use the search function box.... top right of the forum page

short of that... search the galaxy/system maps for a alliance outpost near you

good luck with that CMDR :)

Maybe try incurring another fine to see if that helps, i.e. if you can pay off the second, perhaps the first one will also show up and can be paid off at the same time. I am presuming that you are in the correct place to pay the fine(s).
