Thats a big . Fine. Was it from a scan?

Yep. I was smuggling 120T of slaves, and figured I'd try testing Silent Running by coming in slow like a normal docking.

Conclusion: Not worth it. :D Better off lining up and asking for docking just before hitting boost and popping a sink.

Very brave! Was the fine equal to the full sale value? Or was it more or less?

Well, in this case, I was testing two routes. One has been a long one (about 90LY/5 Jumps) that gives me about 680 grand in profits. The other I was testing was a one jump jobby, and only giving 300 and something grand. That's the one I got caught on, so in this case I made a loss. But I've made up for it going back to the long route for now, so no biggie.

Illicit cargo fine without scan.

I just wanted to ask the community for their advice before possibly submitting a bug report.

Since taking possession of an Imperial Courier (lovely ship by the way but gets sunburned quite easily, if anyone can recommend a good station to get some factor 50,000 sun-cream it would be appreciated) I have taken to smuggling missions.

I was in Epsilon Indi (Mansfield Orbiter to be precise) and had taken possession of a consignment of "herbal soothers" for La Rochelle.

As soon as I accepted the mission, the illicit cargo icon appears above my heat signature wave bar (as per normal for these sort of missions).

I get out of the station and boost out of reach of the security forces without being scanned. I repeat there is no "scan detected" verbal or written warning on my HUD.

Get past the mass lock and then suddenly I am slapped with a 25k credit fine for illicit cargo.

This is a query if this is a bug, not a complaint. I know that I was doing something illegal so you take the risk of fines with the missions (plus the mission paid 175k credits so it wasn't too much of a hardship) but I wanted to check if there is any other way of illicit cargo being detected without you being made aware by your ship. My impression was you had to be scanned (and receive a warning when the scan commenced) and be in range of the scanning ship for the duration of the scan for them to find you were carrying something illegal (or had a bounty etc) to give you the fine or start shooting.

Can the station or security forces scan you without your ship alerting you? Having never used a cargo scanner I understood they worked the same as the warrant scanner in regard to duration and the ship being scanned being aware you were scanning them.

I double checked my comms and status readouts and the last entry on either was the station accepting my docking request prior to me entering.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.

A Kryptonian could see inside your vessel without having to scan it. >.< You don't think it could have been... not a bird... not a plane... was it..... was it him?

Sounds like a bug to me. Has never happened to me with illicit cargo.

I think you're right.

Went back to the same station. Took another smuggling mission. Left the same way with the same speed and the same route, system defence force seemed to be in roughly the same numbers and positions and nothing happened.

Hopefully just a blip.

Reckless flying fine

Hi all.
I just got a fine for flying reckless, a 100credit fine. After leaving the station and boosting away outside the station i got this fine.
Wasn't it only fines and bounties when hitting someone?

Ofcourse i was speeding, i was moving away from the station and i had an empty space infront of my ship. There wasnt anything that i could possible hit :p
Also i did the same yesterday and didn't got a fine all day. So i'm confused.

You hit *something* while speeding hard enough to damage it. Did you scrape the station on the way out? Stations aren't shielded so scraping it does "hull damage" even though we can't actually inflict enough for the station to be destroyed. When you boosted away did you clip one of the ad-displays?

Dunno what to make of your problem- I boosted away form station the whole night, all over the place and got nothing. No fine, no bounty, no scolding, no stern looks...

Can you provide a screenshot?

I'm sure i didn't hit anything. and if i did i should have seen it. I was going max speed in my python and nothing was hit, scraped or damaged.
the fine message came after i made a "U-turn" around the station, and i boosted away after that. to get out of the mass lock zone a bit faster.
Could it be because i was at the same level as the inside of the station?

You should think yourself lucky....last night I was boosting away from station with "nothing" in front of me and an NPC sidewinder came from wide left and slammed into me, destroying himself. I was still in range of the station's guns, so it was goodnight vienna. Was all over in 2 seconds.

Lost 5m on the ship insurance and another couple in cargo. This speeding change in just bonkers. It doesn't do what it set out to do, in fact, it makes it worse, and it opens up a whole world of hurt for those involved in accidental collisions with idiot NPCs.

The way round this? Fly at less than 100 until you're out of range of the station. Yeah, that's what this game needs, a way to make it a bit more grind-y......

Ouch i'm sorry to hear that :(
Sometimes the NPC's do really weird things.
A few days ago i was heading into a station and some random NPC decided to smash itself into the station wall for no apparent reason at all.
I think they need to fine tune the speeding rule a bit.

That doesn't even make it more grindy. It just makes it slow and boring as hell.

I speed away ftom the station and to the station every single time. Not had a fine yet.

You wouldn't have been shot by station if you hadn't been speeding. It's your own fault.
