can you still dock in a station if you are wanted in that system? or does the station fire on you as you enter or are in the station? I know the security ships will turn on you, but not sure how the station re-acts?

Thanks

Docked at the space station fine (in a sidy). Might do a few missions to test the water.

The fine will accumulate as a result of any more scans of nefarious acts in the next 7 days (from the time of the first fine). Nothing will happen to you during this time in the system that gave you the fine.

After 7 days total, the fine becomes a bounty. You will be Wanted in this system, but not others. But your bounty will show if someone does a full KWS on you. Not very much will happen to you; in the system that gave you the fine if you are scanned by NPC security they will attack.

After another 7 days, it becomes a legacy fine and can be completely ignored. Or paid off, if you're feeling plush. Any further fine-inducing activity in the system will re-enable the fine back to its original level.

If you die, the fine will need to be paid off and added to your rebuy costs.

If you're wondering why a player who is caught smuggling faces a fine over 150 times bigger than a player who is caught murdering, keep wondering, it's a mystery to me too.

Thanks very much.

Life is cheap I suppose. In some parts of this world it is the same unfortunately.

I thought you only have to pay the fine if you get killed and re-spawn in the system you owe it to.

You could simply get a stock sidey and offer your bounty to a nice CMDR who needs a bit of extra cash? I would offer to kill you but I won't be back in game for another 7 days ;-)

Yeah? Well I am happy with that as long as I don't have to pay it.

Yeah, smuggling it was! It seems flying to the side of the space station gets you noticed!

When smuggling I fly away from the station to a point about 10km out in front of it. Then turn off as much as possible and boost towards the station then go FA off for as long as possible.
Don't forget also to have the Contacts screen ready to request docking.
The police seem to circle the station as it rotates so the fast direct in method usually gets you through without a scan or at least without them being able to finish the scan.

Yes, that's what I do and and it is usually easy but I had drunk to much and made a pigs ear of it!

Yeah! I had a 300k bounty and I met up with a lovely CMDR for PvP practice. I lost the fight but it worked surprisingly...!

I'm playing on a work computer with no joystick so it would be plain murder I'm afraid. Not much of a challenge. Still if anyone wants the million credits, just let me know. I'm around Avienses.

Do you pay your fines?

After a few weeks of smuggling in my T9 without being scanned once, I had the bright idea of trying a run whilst drunk after a night out :/ The result is a 2.3 million credit fine.

I guess I should just pay it off, what happens if I don't pay after the 5 day's? Will the station turn hostile if I'm scanned by the cops? I noticed I took a hit on my fed & local rep due to my drunken stupidity..

If you've only been scanned once in a few weeks, I think you'll be good until the bounty expires in a couple of weeks, so long as you stay sober in the cockpit that is.

It works in this order:-

Fine - Not a lot happens, pay it off you when you want.
Bounty- You will be wanted in that system and is visible to other CMDRs (cannot be paid off)
Dormant Bounty- No longer wanted but if scanned by authority, bounty becomes active again. Not visible to CMDRs unless using KWS (cannot be paid off)
Legacy Fine- Lifetime fine on you in that system, pay it off when ever. Only time it really affects you is if you face an insurance screen in that system at which point you will have to pay the fine.

Ok I need to look into this.. So after the 5 days it turns into a Bounty, It will remain a Bounty for a few weeks then expire? If if I did get scanned would they shoot on sight?

tnx for the explanation

After the time to pay the fine is due, it turns into a local bounty. And then it expires after a few days and becomes a legacy fine.

As for paying the fine, it depends. If it is one of the very few systems where I spend much time, then yes I pay it.

If its in every other system, I don't. By the time I eventually stumble into that system again, the fine will long have turned into a bounty and expired.

Yeah I have a base here and a few large ships. I'd like to stick around, 2 mill is not worth the hassle.

Thanks everyone.

I have paid off my fines but the fed is still hostile to me. They let me land but the landing permission goes something like this.

' you are cleared to land at landing pad 2 please conclude your business as soon as possible and leave.'

I doubt I will get any new military missions.

2.3 million in one night, good going did you ram spaceship 1, or kill the president?

Correct, although the duration will depend on how high the bounty is. Can't remember the numbers exactly but it skyrockets pretty quickly to 7 days. A 6k bounty will already take 7 days to clear.

If if I did get scanned would they shoot on sight?

The station will only open fire if you commit a crime in the instance (no need for a scan there, the station will detect crimes). The patrolling authority ships, if from the faction issuing the bounty, will engage you after a scan (but not the station). Please note that each station is patrolled by authority ships of its own faction, so being wanted by the system's controlling faction doesn't mean being wanted everywhere in the system (but the system security ships patrolling supercruise will be from the controlling faction)
