First bad press coming starting to arrive!

"Stuck" as in their carriers are stuck.
"Stuck" as in not being able to continue their current gameplay or journey while others are able to. Not due to a bug, but intentionally deactivated to allow a paid update to semi-function. And at the time, zero communication as to when it might be reactivated. If you're on xbox or Playstation that's a slap in the face - no Odyssey, no fleet carrier jumping, a broken game, and silence.

Anyway, jumping has been reactivated. But now FDev have done this once, they might well do it again, at any point without warning.

The missing communication baffled me... I mean, they actually said when they were deactivating carrier jumps. On freakin' Twitter!
Same with reactivation.

I never thought I'd see the day that I'm more inclined to take PC Gamer's word over literally anything else after their hit job on C&C Tiberian Sun to facilitate the full EA buyout of Westwood. This industry is beyond cursed, its divine comedy.

I played the alpha & yesterday I had 2 hours to play around and I am very happy with Odyssey :). The immersion is going a big jump up and the feeling to explore a hole galaxy on foot, on ship and with the SRV lets me look happy into the future and I am curious what will come because they have so many options yet - alone the tutorial was relly cool.

Your are not wrong sir and although most of my post are on the salty side I do share your enthusiasm. I waited a long time for this update. It has a lot of potential. I gave it a good review on steam intially.
This changed however when I landed on planets and every single one had a bland ugly look to it.... I the saw the same in streams... articles etc....I found out everything is flat as well.

Now if it's a bug - fine fix it...but then people started explaining to me that it might not be a bug...just the way things are going forward.

I started listening to fdev old streams, obsidian ant videos...and a picture was forming...this bland look is the new 'tech' they were touting...and I'm meant to believe it's a new feature...

You can't release a dlc to add content but go 500ly back In tech on the core game...."that's where your wrong kiddo" -fdev

Executive or Management incentive bonuses. That is my guess as to why EDO was released in the state it was. Some executives or higher up directors or mangers wanted their big payout from getting EDO "done" and shipped this fiscal year, and it shipped Yay! Executives and the senior management will get their bonuses and payouts (not unheard of for 6 or 7 digit mgmt bonuses in the IT world). They don't care if it has bugs, cause that isn't in their incentive clause... just follow the money.

Meanwhile I wonder if the bad press and volume and crap state of the game will get the of attention of some government entities around the globe like the loot boxes, or cyberpunk issues did. Will reddit kick up a storm? I wonder if that is the PR FDev mgmt wanted. Will Fdev be forced to refund directly to consumers if the product fails to run the way(s) Fdev said it would?

edit: spelling as usual

LMAO!! You would!! LMAO!! :poop::poop::poop:
I had my disagreements with the poster you quoted, but I did to and I enjoyed CP. Compared to EDO, I didn't have FPS drops, quests worked. I did have a multitude of bugs, but mostly minor.
Yes, lots was cut, and there were flaws. But I enjoyed the story a lot, and the game was good. With the free dlc and patches, it will become a very good game.

There's no review bombing going on. I've read quite a few of he reviews on steam and most of the negative reviews are thoughtful and many go into the good and bad.

If anything - the only "review bombing" is on the positive side. Way more short 1 sentence positive reviews than negative

Love the final quote:
'Every game usually runs into bugs at launch, so I’m confident Frontier will work them out eventually — Elite Dangerous has been steadily getting updates and content for almost a full decade now. But if you were holding out for Odyssey, it might be prudent to hold out a little while longer. Space can wait.'

Back to Horizons for me!
So, essentially, we spent our money now to have a real expansion, lets say, 3 years in the future? This is preposterous. And still a huge example of unprofessional behavior.

The first bad pass is starting to show up. It's going to get a lot worse over the coming few weeks and I hope frontier pay for their lack of integrity here. Your customers don't work for you and we are not a free Q/A team.

I'm a developer and this sort of behavior is disgusting where development studios favor investors over customers. This product was not ready for launch, they knew it but launched it anyway for the financials and expected us to be free Q/A to work for free. You guys who are reporting bugs are working for free, most people get paid to do that, as that's a JOB. In summary they cyberpunk'd us. I'm all for forgiveness and moving forward but not without first repentance or an understanding of why what they did was wrong.

RIP

Hmm, I can feel your pain and also that you are worried about the future of the game. I also was a very critical poster here a year ago and I played ED since 2015.

I dont think that FD will ruin there Chance to get the best spacesim out there (sure, SC is amazing but the 400 billion star Galaxy is a bigger immersion to me). I will trust FD that they will be fixing bugs in the next time and I also hope not with the speed they were realeasing updates in the past.

Now, I will support the game and the devs but only because I trust in the current state of the game and that they will work hard to solve all the probs! If we support them now it is enough time to make pressure in the future but I think the only thing that we can do is to stay calm... I know, some bugs are really critical to some and I hope they get the multiplayer part running soon.

You probably need to reread the reviews, or maybe you just ignored the ones you did not like :ROFLMAO:
