First bad press coming starting to arrive!

Then you can't do everything the old UI could do, can you?
No, I didn't say that though. I was agreeing with you?

But I still prefer the new UI overall. I think it's important to actually consider that and not just boolean "this and this is wrong so it's all wrong".

I can't stand the Horizons station UI any more. I much prefer the look of the outfitting (and actualy buying modules is much better) and the galmap is also nicely laid out and I love the bookmark categorisation and other tools and collapsible panels (and love the fact we now have actual LS distances to objects relative to our location, which was a big enhancement). What I don't like is not being able to do xy and z. So when they get added in...

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

I’d ask if you were new here if I didn’t know better. 😉
Heh, the thing is I'm like "yeh you're right and -insert caveat here-" and he's like "no, you're wrong". But.... I'm agreeing with you... "The other guy wasn't"... Sure, but... I'm not the other guy?

Perhaps a private conversation would be better suited for that one.

By posting on an internet forum?
Get some history lessons, the posting isn't more powerful than the pitchfork 😜
I've seen some major game boycotts in my time. Actually seen one work. If you agree that the devs just acknowledging it and then going on to do their daily jobs that they probably would have done anyway is the boycott "working". Seriously... they just organised a refusal to play a computer game.

First world problems.

It made financial sense or so they thought it would, as long as they could control the backlash per OP point.
Please stop diluting the thread if you cannot comprehend the basic point of it.
Please stop responding to me if you cannot comprehend what I am saying.
So, exactly what are you saying? Would you be generous enough to clarify your exact point?
It appears so highbrow that it has flown so high above my head it went hypersonic 🤷‍♂️

Odyssey will get better over time, just go with flow. Although I must admit I was a little disappointed with the full release, because it basically the alpha content and we were told it was just a small slice of what Odyssey will offer.

I could understand that if was only performance issues and technical issues, it is getting out of hand in game industry but it is understandable, however with Odyssey there are so many design issues that had been brought up during "alpha" and were not corrected for the release. It is inexcusable.
Design issues are very much subjective. Overall, I like the new UI.

re: The design issues 'That were not corrected before release'. The problem with design is that it is a very subjective issue - One man's meat is another man's poison - they can never satisfy all peoples opinions. Just because some people do not like it does not make it a bug or bad design.

Personally, I like the new UI - admittedly it is hard to find the stuff I used to be able to get to very quickly, but that is always the way with change, you'll soon get used to the new locations of things. Some of the grouping of items is now far more logical. Without doubt there are still things to be addressed, and there always will be.

  • Speaking of what “investors” wants ignores that David Braben is a major shareholder. FDev obviously misjudged the reaction to performance.
  • The parts of the new UI I used are fine. Either I got used to it, or they tweaked it versus the alpha. I haven’t done much outfitting, so I don’t have an opinion.

You can do everything you were doing on the old one, except it's better organised... (...)

Have you tried to re-build a ship using modules stored on several other ships?
Yes, you CAN do it, but considering
- lack of information about stored ship loadout
and even if you manage to find all modules you want to eqip
- having to travel upwards and downwards outfitting UI tree
because you CAN'T choose stored modules from outfitting branch where you land after equipping a previous one,

it takes 3-4 times more effort and time then the same task in old UI.

How exactly is it "better organized"?

Love the final quote:
'Every game usually runs into bugs at launch, so I’m confident Frontier will work them out eventually — Elite Dangerous has been steadily getting updates and content for almost a full decade now. But if you were holding out for Odyssey, it might be prudent to hold out a little while longer. Space can wait.'

Back to Horizons for me!
Too late for me... a crash in Odyssey and just it keeps crashing before I can play in Odyssey but also in Horizons and the plain Elite Dangerous...

That looks like melted plastic. Which kinda fits, as everything about this release feels plastic, smoke and mirrors, bait and switch, and disingenuous comments from their PR team with misleading info on their livestreams and press releases.. Toped off with 'sweeteners' to all their main youtubers for, well we all know what for.

If we don't get planetary tech they were fawning over in their livestreams, they need to be called out on it and utterly hammered by press, players, and everyone else. The only saving grace is its only two days into beta (because make no mistake about it, that's exactly what this is, a beta). There should be lots of patches to come. Lets see where we are in a month.

Sort the planetary tech out and give us what you sold us!

Well, if the new UI makes outfitting my ship twice as slow as before, this is very much an objective value.

Sure, saying that having to click 2-3x more and navigate in many more menus is bad is subjective.

I think most will see such increase in clunkyness as bad. Then again, there must be people with a kink for poor UI.

Management on the other hand..........
Yeah just want to state that my rant is aimed at the management, not the actual people who have TALENT - the artists, the programmers, sound engineers etc. Those guys are passionate and do their best, but management calls the shots between releasing a minimal viable product done as cheaply as possible, and not something worthy of the talent they have to call upon.
