First bad press coming starting to arrive!

What i was expecting was for the rest of the game to be trashed by squeezing an unfinished FPS mini-game into what is supposed to be an epic galactic-wide adventure.

And hey, as far as a whole bunch of fleet carrier owners and their mates are concerned, it has. Hundreds if not thousands of CMDRs stuck in the middle of nowhere for the last three days.

"Stuck" as in their carriers are stuck.

Stop falling for such obvious marketing. It's more false hope to stave off refunds.
I haven't 'fallen' for it, and why I'm asking in Fdev's public forum, 'cause there does seem to be this expectation that more is coming as part of this DLC yet nowhere has Fdev said or intimated anything remotely like it.
Lots of people are refunding in Steam and are in fact finding it difficult to do so.

Indeed, the Steam forums at the moment are swamped by people who simply can't run the game or getting bugs. And note that these aren't even graphic bugs. It's basic connectivity bugs, CTDs, or getting trapped in an Apex Taxi forever.
Even worse for me as it was gifted. I clicked for a refund and it said to get the original buyer to refund it but nowhere is she being given the option (gonna open a ticket). And I'm not refunding because of the bugs etc etc etc but because the content they've shoved out isn't worth £30 sterling (IMHO).

Even without actual EVA or ship / bridge interiors I thought the Thargoid foot soldiers was a given and all other planet based habitations would have a proper makeover. Seriously, what have they been working on for the last 3 years? 100 devs my shiny metal <redacted>!

This one's really good actually.
Especially the part about communication and the player base.
"Frontier, on the other hand, needs to get back in tune with their community and do a better job of communicating what they are releasing."
@Valorin Cheers for the kind words, I never come on the forums, tend to lurk the reddit and its heart-warming to see someone say that about my writing.

This is acually a good read...

Is this bit true? because Fdev haven't even intimated this is a staggered release but a one and done DLC. I mean, if it's true Frontier are doing themselves no favours keeping it secret because my big complaint (other than the bugs, connectivity and unoptimised state of the release) was how little is in it...
And yea, yea, bolting an FPS onto the creaking Cobra engine, blah blah blah, but David Braben right at the start (one of the Kickstarter vids) said the Cobra engine was designed to be open and easy to add to and they already had the proof of concept shooter (video floating about somewhere).
If you look at their latest investor pack; https://frontier-drupal.s3-eu-west-...on/frontier-corp/s3fs-public/fdev-h1-fy21.pdf
on page 9 we have their upcoming release road map and Odyssey goes all the way until FY24.
I think both are true, this week was a one and done DLC, but with a few years of iterative development, most likely fed by player engagement. Why bother investing heavily in the drop zone functionality if no one plays it (CQC) but the heist missions take off which will allow them to focus new development on that.

There are two kind of people mainly, those who criticize and split the hair in four even when it's unnecessary...that's one extreme, and those who praise a thing even when it's clear it's trash and has obvious problems...and that's the other extreme, I see both groups fighting in here but...to deny that this Odyssey mess has not big problems is ridicolous at best, and to add to that this has happened "every ing time" they did an update, now blame the fate for that :ROFLMAO: And happy 2077 too

An experienced developer would not even have to clarify that distinction because it's so basic.
There are people in the world who frequent these forums that aren't devs and you know that there are idiots out there who will do stupid things like send the devs death threats.........

PC gamer has chimed in!

Nice trick fishing for readers using Steam's "Overwhelmingly..." while it's still at "Mostly Negative", which is bad enough.
I don't know. Nothing good will come out of bad press right now.
If it's still riddled with issues a few weeks from now, okay, but at least let the devs do their work.

There's also enough people who are enjoying Odyssey. It's not like it's generally broken and unplayable.
Everytime something like this happens I really wonder how this whole childish and stupidly dramatized outrage isn't from a cheap tabloid, but actually real people who are not 5 year olds stomping their feet in a toy store.

Nice blinders you got there.

Running stuff on test servers and adding it to the live servers are two different things. A lot of this stuff they may not have seen. Not that I'm defending them, I just don't have enough intel to make an informed decision.

I was fully expecting thing to not go smoothly considering they have all been working from home for a long time now.
news alert, an awful lot of coders work from home anyway and have done for years
