"Fixes" for Flat Ride Crowds

So I'm rebuilding my Realm of Legends park and I'm moving along and I'm thinking about my first flat rides. The goal of the park is to archive the lessons in the Legends we tell. For example, there will be a section of the park about the Legend of Mulan (Honor, family, duty, honesty), both from a Disney point of view as well as a "This is the story that's handed down". And to that effect I had been planning an "educational" Tracked ride using the Huntsman to spin to key features to look at and think about.

My experience so far though is that flat rides tend to over draw attendees and create massive population log jams. I'm debating on how to fix this, either by using something like the Polarity People Mover (is that worse/ better?) or by limiting my "tours" to being river boat style or even Log Flume rides (Pirates of the Caribbean, technically is a log flume when you think about it).

I'm planning to set the park up to have a large ticket price and free rides. Can I price people out of going there?

For the record I'm using Sandbox mode but I'd like to see "profit" at the end of the day just because I'm funny that way.

EDIT: I meant Tracked Rides, not flat rides. I'm thinking about the MadCat, or the Huntsman and related. I'm not even sure what kind of "damage" the tour bus does....

Track rides are always overly popular. It has to do with prestige combined with their EFN stats. The only way to avoid them hogging the peeps is either to make your other rides able to compete with the track rides, or to make the track rides less attractive.

Prestige is a combo of a ride's excitement rating, duration, and scenery. As most folks tend to decorate every queue 100% and have High or Very High (which requires at least 2 triggers) ride scenery, that's a wash. Track rides, however, move slowly so have long durations, and they get WAY more excitement per mph (or kmph) than do coasters, so they get stupidly high excitement compared to coasters. Combined, this means that it's EASY for track rides to have prestige in the 1100-1200 category without even trying. OTOH, it takes a fairly big coaster with lots of airtime to get 1200 prestige. Also, track rides tend to have EFNs of about 4.5/3.0/0.5, which is about the sweet spot for attracting the majority of peeps of all demographics.

So, if your track rides are hogging the peeps, it's because you don't have enough other rides in this same general range of stats. You need a couple of kid-friendly coasters with similar EFN and 1100--1200 prestige. And even no-kids coasters should have stats fairly similar so they draw as many peeps as possible. Do NOT have more than 1 "all green" coaster in even a large park, as they are too scary for about 80% of all peeps. Thus, they have a very low market share and will never be as successful as more subdued rides.

i agree w/ bullethead. They need other things to do. That doesn’t always do the trick but may help. I’ve learned not to have the que start off of a main area so the herd of ppl don’t block the main walkway. I have the exact same problem now. It’s very annoying. My extremely long que line is packed and there’s a huge hurd of ppl standing around the entrance.
