Notice Fleet Carrier Update - Known Issues

I need the ATC voices back... every time I dock now I have a freakin panic attack thinking I've not requested landing permission (of course I mostly had)... but I do need the verbal confirmation of my landing pad number... and a timely warning to lower that darned landing gear malarky! Also the loss of ability to select a destination starport for the 'Commodity Prices' link-up doo-dad in the Galaxy Map... or is that me being a twot again?.... so many things missing for my old brain to process ! o7

Tritium in the RBS 1843 system is infinite. On the Nyberg Dock station market. Is this how it should be?
Were you even able to park a carrier there? I flew there in my 'Vette and the place swarmed with FCs, chat was packed with sales chatter even in Solo. I found an even better source elsewhere, though it is an outpost (medium ships at best) but it's not nearly as crowded as Nyberg Dock space. Seems Rocket Tea never runs low there, either.

As a developer, let me just say, that while testing/staging environments are designed to be as close to "production" as possible, not everything can be 100% identical (in a financial system, for example, you don't really want to initiate that bank transfer in a non-production environment). So, while everything may have worked smoothly in the beta environment, there can be unexpected / unforeseen effects when put into the live environment. Just saying "it's not that simple". I would also point out that it's almost always better to "fail forward", than to "roll back" and have to start all over. Finally, remember everyone, this is just a game; give them time to figure out why things went awry, and take care of them.

I work in application development as well. I agree with what you say in the aspect of most companies accept some risk with software deployments. I've worked at companies where like you say, you don't actually test with real bank info as you don't want an actual transaction to go through. But that is an acceptance of risk tolerance, not that it's not possible to test.
I now work for a company that has a 'zero risk' release policy. While we know zero risk is not really attainable, this means we test as production is setup - period. This means we do initiate real monetary transactions over the production connections. The difference is we have worked (i.e. paid) with banks to setup dummy accounts and credit cards, and to support us during our testing. Everything is legit but the accounting department knows they are not real charges and cleans things up on the backend.

It can be done but costs a lot more. Now that I work for a company that does release this way, I love it. We rarely have issue and when we do it's usually not our problem. This keeps me focused on the next release vs. fixing bugs all the time and working from your backfoot.

No, there wasn't enough space for the Fleet Carrier ))) We drive trucks...

Accepted engineer invitation mission in sirius.
Relogged when still in starport.
Sirius corporation is offering another engineer invitation mission, while the first one is still in my transactions tab.

OOP was invented like 30 years ago. And Elite does not follow it. They fixed locking window for carrier's cargo, now same happened with limpets dropper. Why ? Because no OOP was used. With proper planning, it would not be copy-paste there, and 1 fix would fix all at once.
And when you come to TDD paradigm - you break OOP completely. Instead planning / rewriting you do copy-pastes to pass tests.
But you cannot time-track OOP planning ... so effective managers ask you TDD and many other new words like u;re worker on factory. Then we have repeated / never fixed bugs.

Don’t know if mentioned, but on PS4 Pro using Quality, some of the ‘Wavy’ pre jump & Super Cruise effects are now completely gone.

I haven’t been interdicted yet, so cannot tell if the wavy effects are also gone from that...

I used to have a standard PS4, so noticed this special effect when I upgraded.

Hoping this gets rectified. A few other PS4 Pro users have noticed this issue on Discord.

o7
They’re gone on PC, too.

Additional sound bug: did remote workshop being on carrier. It did "workers sound". Now I hear it non-stop 50ly away from carrier. Pretty funny ... I though I had some aliens on my back :D

I came back after a few days away to Play ED today so the FC update was downloaded. I have played for approx 3 hours or so (edit: first draft of this posting). Here's a list of things I have noted. I hope they're clearly described...

I play ED on PC.

1) As others have reported, upon arrival to a space station, I hear none of the welcoming & directive comms. This means, for example, that when you arrive you won't hear the normal directives to be mindful of others and approach at a safe speed nor will you hear the announcement of your assigned landing pad when you request landing. I have visited about 7 stations in 3 systems and this has been true in all of these cases. The effect is remarkable because it is so quiet compared to what I'm accustomed to.
EliteDangerous Stn Arrival.jpg

No comms heard when arriving (dropping out of SC) at a station, or when being granted docking permission in response to a (normal) request.
Edit: This also includes comms normally heard when departing a station - they're not present either.

2) When selecting a marketplace to compare prices from the list (see pic for clarification), it appears that a single mouse-click on the horizontal arrows registers as at least 3 clicks, advancing the list past selections that need to be made in many instances. I haven't experienced any such anomalous mouse behavior in the operating system or in other applications. Clearly this makes selection quite difficult.

3) When docked at a station and in the station services UI, much of the audio appears to be quieter than normal. For example, the background chatter and clicks associated with delivery of mission items (see pic) are very quiet...
EliteDangerous Mission delivery.jpg

Clicking on the + to deliver mission goods is very quiet, as is general clicks heard when moving the mouse pointer over items in the UI like mission-lists, etc.
Some comms, by comparison, appear to be at normal audio volume. For example, if I load up my ship's cargo hold, the "cargo hold at maximum capacity" notification sounds as expected. Perhaps this indicates a distinction between COVAS and other audio.

4) As others have reported, when I receive a COVAS notification that a message has arrived, it is not always true that the message appears in the INBOX when I open the upper panel where these appear. In particular I have noticed two things:
a) Incoming Mission Critical Messages typically fall into this category of failure to display in the INBOX. At least it's true in the several cases I've encountered during today's game-play.
Edit: I received an Incoming Mission Critical Message during further play informing me of a time bonus for a courier mission; that one showed in the INBOX properly.
b) In one instance, I received a message for a salvage mission but it failed to appear in my INBOX. Later, when I received a 2nd message for the same mission (these then typically appear under the same mission in the INBOX), both messages showed.

big Edit:
5) I happened to encounter a fleet carrier in the Tefenhua system during my travels today and noted a couple of oddities.

a} When approaching a space station in supercruise, the station's image shown in the cockpit rotates to reflect relative orientation as I maneuver my ship. This does not happen with the fleet carrier; the image on my cockpit's scanner is static (yellow circle in the 1st pic below). I don't know if this is by design.
After I have dropped out of SC, the scanner image then appears to update normally* as I maneuver my ship (yellow circle in the 2nd pic below).
* but perhaps not until the 2nd issue (described in 5b below) resolves. I'd have to try that again to be sure.
FC approach in SC- image doesnt rotate like stations do.jpg

approach in supercruise. FC scanner image is static

Normal space, holo does update with maneuvers.jpg

approach in 'normal space.' FC image rotates as I maneuver

b) I encountered a graphic anomaly when I dropped out of supercruise during a normal approach to the FC, (just like you would when approaching a station). The following series of images show the anomaly on a repeated approach. I missed the opportunity to grab images on my first approach, but I simply entered SC and approached again. When I dropped out of SC normally, the anomaly was there again so it appears to be repeatable...

It's interesting to note that the targeting locks on to the anomaly while it exists...

Drop-in 02 graphic anomaly.jpg

Drop-in 03 graphic anomaly.jpg

Eventually as I approach, the anomaly resolves and display is normal. I'm not sure what conditions are met for this to happen...

It now occurs to me that I perhaps could have flown away from the FC (not in SC) and returned towards it to see if the anomaly re-occurs that way.

I had none of the problems others reported earlier while downloading the update (to Horizons which I almost always launch) or logging-in afterwards. The game played as expected (smoothly) overall.

I hope this feedback is useful. Thanks, FDev, for monitoring the feedback from the community.

I'm on a PS4 & After hours of trying I was finally able to purchase a carrier, an hour later I've seen no problems so far. For those of you that are still having problems I hope it's sorted quickly. On a side note, have you seen the state of Borann? There must be close to 200 Carriers out there, I know where I won't be going any time soon. Thanks Devs, Good luck all, stay COVID safe o7

LOL - That's pretty funny. I can just see the NPC now.... "No! No! Fill your cargo holds with gold !"

OK, that makes sense. I had not thought about being absent from my carrier that completely, but it's a scenario for sure.

My exploration method will be to move within the 250ly radius "bubble" surrounding each carrier waypoint, rather than a linear route.
Yeah, not necessarily linear as in my example. A more realistic one might be to go exploring for a while, then "recall" your FC to your current vicinity, to say, turn in cartographics, repair, whatever. If you get further than 500LY from the FC, you'll have to fly back to meet it. :(

I'd like to report an issue. When I arrive to my carrier, I am not greeted by my Carrier's hundreds of staff and crew like the Emperor's Arrivial in Return of the Jedi. I saw this in page 17 of the sales brochure provided by the Brewer Corp. My final decision in purchasing this fine vessel was based on this, and, even though I am not an Imperial, I desire the basking to be strong with my Crew. Please fix this ASAP. lol!
