Notice Fleet Carrier Update - Known Issues

Greetings Commanders,

Thank you to everyone who has reported the issues they’ve found since the update went live. We’re reading all the feedback and the development team is working hard on resolving them as we speak.

This thread is intended to share which issues we are aware of and any information relating to them. We'll keep this thread up to date with news and information, so please do keep checking back for the latest updates.

Current known issues:
  • Commanders being kicked from the game and unable to rejoin, or taking a longer than expected time to rejoin.
  • Commanders experiencing crashes related to connection errors.
  • Various sites missing from the in game world, such as Dav’s Hope.
  • Commanders being unable to purchase a Fleet Carrier.
  • Some Commanders did not have to wait any time for their fast track quota.
    • Fast tracking Powerplay quotas is currently not available while we investigate a further fix.

Thank you for your help in reporting these issues and your patience as we investigate!

For any other issues we're going to be reading the feedback here, but please also submit them to our issue tracker: https://issues.frontierstore.net/

Tim

Update:

Morning Commanders,

Just an update to say that the development team are already investigating, the community team are reading all your feedback and we’ll be sharing more updates throughout the day when we have them.

o7 Commanders

Dear developers, can you tell the community a little about how you work on bug fixes? Unfortunately, after the last message that your team went to sleep, there is no more information or special changes in the game...are you still sleeping? It can be the approximate time of the next hotfix or the time of technical work on the servers, or a new list of known problems...anything at all.

Not sure if this was reported but apparently ship names and ID's got stealth "fix" that capitalize them after you type/paste them ... in addition the dash / "-" is removed from allowed ID symbols and it is auto removed if pasted.

Not sure why this is done but altering user input to fix some display issues do not look as good practice.

That's really annoying. I rely on a dash in my ship ids for the naming convention I chose.

I suspect that they've done that because Fleet Carriers have a dash in their UID, but that's a poor reason.

I dread new content these days, because it always changes something for the worse, and it takes a good 10-14 days for the bugs to be removed. I honestly wouldn't mind if the game got mothballed.

You can still have dash in id if you edit the default one.... Just do not apply new name or copy paste. The default id is something like first two letters of char name, dash some random numbers and a letter. By editing you can keep the dash.

However, there is no work around for capitalising input and new ships will always have capitalised names in journal.

P. S. In general using non unicode fonts and capitalising names of everything is very lame.

Got my FC & took it out for a spin, got low on fuel so I made a pitstop then I noticed the poor poor fuel transfer system, what were you guys over at frontier thinking of when you came up with that doozy? I hope the person who suggested it was given a verbal warning & the person who implemented it was fired. Where is the logic in being able to plot jumps & manage your FC from across the galaxy but I can't get one of my crew that are paid copious amounts of money to do a fuel transfer, no no I have to physically be on the FC & then transfer it to my ship to transfer it back to the FC. Real emerging game play, needless to say after only one day I've put my FC into decommissioning state. Please sort it out Devs you gave us this awesome thing & then
ruined it by simply not thinking it through

Haven't ship names always been changed to capital letters when you name or rename your ship? They have as long as I've been playing but the removal of the hyphen is new.

I've been doing some haz RES work winged up this morning and seen SLFs that persist after their mothership has been destroyed, and Orcas with eagles for escorts in the rings.

Lads and Gents. Maybe one of you all noted this in the millions of comments above but, I have an observation. Way back when we couldn't even log onto the game because of a copious black adder, we were told to Machine logout and log back on. This worked for me immediately and no problems with basic logon since.

I perceive that the game devs are repeated going in to the game shell and making reprogramming adjustments right now. As they do, the fixes are usually good but, the dynamic game memory can get a bit messed up I think. I have noticed that every once in a while when I do a machine logout and new logon, the game stops having current lock issues and etc... and the game runs much more consistently. No, this does not fix many of the fundamentally logic issue still outstanding but, it does let me proceed with the game play better - a lot better in fact..

BTW: I can't imagine why the owner of a 7 billion dollar Carrier can't even go into a ship logbook and see who and what ships are aboard his vessel. This also is ridiculous and needs to be made available. I mean this game looks for ways to isolate players from each other....

and it is dangerous... let's say I am in deep space and decided to shut down my shipyard (for a next couple of weeks) to reduce my upkeep and somebody who decided to ride along, switched a night before to their un-engineered eagle :)

Well they've been completely mute on this but I suspect they want the player to have to be involved in the movement. I can't shuffle the carrier off to beagle point while I stay and do power play. Why? I don't know, but this fueling thing and the flat out refusal to address it in any way seems to suggest that's what they want. Yes it sucks. If I want to BuckyBall back to take part in some Thargoid event, and tow the fleet along after... "too bad". Gotta drag my cross on my shoulders all the way back or pay to have my fleet delivered off my fleet carrier. :ROFLMAO:

Anyway...

Sure would be nice to have any feedback what busted game parts we can expect to be addressed in the patch for the patch.

i see we still have the very annoying sound problem after visiting the remote workshop?? anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?? we had this problem in beta 2, and i did report it to fdev at the time but it never got addressed i see .....

No, the journal records contained names as the were typed. Only in game they were displayed with capital letters.

Ha, problem with that is the carriers are actually a TARDIS, with probably an infinite number of ships potentially inside.

My carrier just left me behind even though I was docked on it. I set it to jump and it went through the motions, but after completion I was still in the same system, I checked the gal map and it was also at the destination existing in two places at the same time. I undocked from it and then requested docking at which the game crashed. on restart the carrier was gone and I had to fly to the destination to catch it up

sounds like your carrier crew played a bit of a joke on you.... lol;)

I had no problems with my fleet carrier until this afternoon. As reported above I couldn't get it to jump anywhere, the countdown would finish and then nothing. Also I tried to transfer some cargo to the FC, but wouldn't allow it as apparently it already had 32000 tonnes of cargo in it, the real figure was about 19000.
It might have helped if we could have tested owning a FC for more than the 1 week (those of us not blessed with 5 billion credit bank balances)
More of these issues may have shown up.
I've not had any real problems myself, so rest of game seems to be working pretty much as before.
