ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers - Content Reveal Announcement

That would be great yes.
How would being forced to jump be great? Assuming all-mode persistence as FD have previously said, my carrier could be attacked by someone in Solo and be forced to jump when I wasn't expecting it. Or it could be forced to jump when I was logged out and when I logged back in it would be somewhere unexpected. This would render carriers pretty useless anywhere in the bubble.

Question: if / when IIs and CGs come back, will you at FD be taking into consideration fleet carriers? Depending on what they can do they might be a massive distorting factor. For example, if you can store mined materials and a CG asks for mined materials, do you feel its fair / possible for that carrier to dump the lot?

If money is so easy to obtain, expect a fungal bloom of alt accounts building their single FC limit per account. Or, lots of wealth transfers to those with huge numbers of alt accounts.

Also, people may have been plotting locations for FC's since the first tease. How many players on Inara have 10 billion in assets, or more? We know those players can do it, so the list of corner convenience stores/landgrabs can be estimated at a minimum...

I agree the game design challenges would be significant in order to square it all, but personally I would love carriers also being subject somehow to game territorial conflict.

A requirement to be Elite for a FC is too much, because the far majority of players don't reach Elite rank.

I have reached elite in trading around 3 years into the game (about ~end of 2017 (started the same CMDR since gamma 1 2014) and I was playing very casualy back then, even more now. On the contrary I am half way through fed rank and about 1/5th through imp rank. So I would assume maxing out PF ranking is waaay easier and faster than superpower ranking.

I think that would be fair. The stuff would still have to be mined. Mining will take much longer than making the delivery whether it's done by ships or carrier.

5 billion credits is quite resonable. Please stop whining about the cost. It is, what it is. Unless you're very new to the game then you've know for quite a while now that fleet carriers are on the way and they're probably going to cost a lot of credits!

Might I suggest you join a squadron? Ours for instance, can show you numerous ways to make serious credits and have fun in a wing at the same time. We activity help new players make credits if that's what they want from the game, some do, some don't, and that's not a problem.

Have fun, stay safe and fly safe.

Are you surprised? The press release throws out "if you can't pay the upkeep, your carrier will get decommissioned" with no further detail. Of course people will speculate. This is an Elite forum and the that was the only Elite related news in ages.

And look what the gods did last time the Carrier announcement thread exploded with endless whatif and whycant speculation... :O

I laugh if it's one fleet carrier per system. Oh boy the salt will be epic 😂

Part of me has started thinking up strategic consequences of that :D I expect though it will be stacked instances (so its one carrier per instance you can enter).

A better question would be though:

If I have to be invited to land or see one, what happens if I'm invited to 20 or so? You can't stack 20 signals or have 20 spaces. Here is Shin Dez in a few months time:
