ANNOUNCEMENT Fleet Carriers - Content Reveal Announcement

Few questions:
  • will be possible move FC inside of system? And if yes, how will be set limitations? (for example unable to enter areas very close to the planets)
  • will be position of FC displayed on the system navmaps?
  • will be existence and functions of FC linked with the local BGS?
  • will be carriers limited for amount of ships docked there? (means also docked offline) And if yes, will be FC owner able set own limits? (for example he will want have there enough free space to dock all his ships)
  • are planned paintjobs for FC?
  • will be restocking part of possible FC income? (i.e. will be possibble set own "restock" prices for other cmdrs?)
  • can be stored on FC equipment, materials, exploration data, salvages? (I know, it's mixed bag of things)
... it's for FDevs livestream, not for speculations :)

A public beta implies it will be available to all probably through a download that you choose to get or not or another log-in option like Open, Solo etc, cant see it working any other way on XB.

Previous betas weren't public as such and nobody on XB or PS afaik has had a beta before.

Few questions:
  • will be possible move FC inside of system? And if yes, how will be set limitations? (for example unable to enter areas very close to the planets) - almost certainly not within systems
  • will be position of carrierr displayed on the system navmaps? - will find out on livestream
  • will be existence and functions of FC linked with the local BGS? - you mean like lockdown? Will find out on livestream
  • will be carriers limited for amount of ships docked there? (means also docked offline) And if yes, will be FC owner able set own limits? (for example he will want have there enough free space to dock all his ships) - Probably as don't want Cmdrs locked out of own FC, find out on livestream
  • are planned paintjobs for FC? - at some point, probably not top priority (better not be!), find out on livestream
  • will be restocking part of possible FC income? (i.e. will be possibble set own "restock" prices for other cmdrs?) - Possibly but where would you get the goods if selling at lower than station? Why would I not just go there? Probably not as no useful function or purpose
  • can be stored on FC equipment, materials, exploration data? (I know, it's mixed bag of things) - Some equipment probably, some in ships obviously, no to materials, no to data unless you mean sell it in which case maybe maybe not, find out on livestream

Can you make it where people can pool each others money between each other, one person making 5 billion is ridiculous.

I have around 21 billions in assets and cash. I will recommend you to visit YouTube and search for videos that explain how to generate credits in Elite
I really don't understand how is it possible that people don't know how to Mine LTDs or do Robigo trips or Road To Riches!!

A little reminder from the past: the Vulture used to cost 20 million Cr (now it's just below 5M), and the Fer-de-Lance was somewhere around a hundred million (now 51M). I can't seem to find the exact value now, only that someone said a combat build would cost you 120-150 million Cr.
In any case, these were changed to their current values not during a beta, but after the update went live.
It even had a GalNet article about it. Different times :D

Frontier doesn't have the infrastructure to support a vessel that has the ability to travel 500 light years, let alone have the interesting content just to run the current game. If you intend to use this ship from a commerce standpoint this already broken trade system needs to be completely rebuilt which is not going to happen because they don't have the resources, personnel or money to do so. If this is the answer to try to save a game that is already long been on life support this is a very sad offering. Think about it this is coming from people who decided to spend thousands of hours rendering spaceship cabins that have absolutely no purpose in the game, for every ship I might add, instead of creating and implementing new contact. I mean it's fascinating does Frontier really believe that people are going to spend hundreds of hours grinding a game with no content to obtain 5 billion credits to purchase a ship that has no purpose?

This is wrong in so many levels that I am not even wasting time explaining you the details. Please investigate a bit before start spewing nonsense in a forum.
Remember you can always ask your mama or papa to reviews it before you post it.

It is true, the prices were higher at lunch because we had no "broken mechanics" to generate credits.
Right now 5 billion a good number and it will prevent the CryBabies to get one and spam the bubble with carriers since they don't leave the bubble... it's too scary and unnecessary remember?

The 90% was just a hypothetical number based on FD dropping the price of the carrier based on all the noise here about how much it currently costs. I really hope they don't drop the price (at least not appreciably) so we don't end up in a galaxy of too many carriers for too few customers. Anyway, it's all just what-if. So much depends on how FD actually implements carriers, and how creative the commanders are in using them.
True. The price was a shock and a tiny disappointment (because I can't just buy it right off, but that's just a me-problem), but I agree, it shouldn't be lowered at all. It's a good price. If I really wanted to (and had the time) I could make enough to buy it, but the upkeep is what could put a stop for me since I can't play it as often as I used to. And it really has to add some interesting game play, or it won't be worth the work.

Actually, if I sell most of my ships, I can afford it. It's time that I can't afford nowadays. I have a son who had a surgery and needs attention, while there's baking, cooking, gardening, house keeping, and more things to consider. I know how to make the money and even grind for it, it's just not enough time in a day to bother doing it. Now, I prefer games that are easy to get into and play. 5 minutes here. 5 minutes there. So wing missions... even worse. Besides, I'm 35,000 ly from the bubble anyway. :)

So people can potentially lose their carrier if they abandon the game?

Well if these are meant to be persistent assets that exist even when the "owner" is logged out, then good.

Point is, if you want to clutter up space with your assets, then I think it is quite reasonable to expect those players to frequently log in.

FFXIV does similar with its housing system. You don't keep up payments and such... The devs' bulldoze your work and sell the land to other players. Well okay that's on pause during the current pandemic, but it has been made clear that the eviction policy will be resumed when deemed appropriate.

Is 5billion a little steep? If your a newbie definitely, if all you do is fly about with friends probably but for those playing the game for a good chunk of time it's not that steep and if you've been playing for a while and still can't afford one I have two questions, how the hell have you been playing the game and what have you been doing with all your money? I've been playing for two years for 3-4 hours a night and I've managed to acquire every ship in the game A rate and engineer the crap out of them and still have 13b in change and that's with no exploits/cheats(not bragging as I know there are people that eclipse me in credits)
